I've just released fully documented source code for The Sentinel as an easy-to-browse website.

It's a lot more fun to explore than the GitHub repository, with cross-references, popups, indexes, statistics and more.

Enjoy!

I've been running an indie games studio for 15 years now, and it felt like a good time to boil down what I've learned into 4 pieces of advice:

I hope it's of use, not least because goddamn I forgot how long blog posts take to write.

It's not quite at RPCS3 levels yet, but every time I look, whether by update, fork or game-specific patch, Xbox 360 emulation continues to improve and games I couldn't get working previously or were weirdly bugged suddenly spring back into mortal existence.

I thought the Descent source port didn't look too bad, because it was using the original art assets at their original resolution. The place these projects REALLY fall apart is in trying to apply high-resolution textures to low-poly level geometry that was never built for it, which ALWAYS looks bad.

Currently conspiring to figure out what horrible goblins I'm going to let out of the cauldron over the next week. I have some unfinished business with a certain Canadian assassin from last year that I'm sure we'll get to, but beyond that, I have a few options I need to whittle down...
Happy New Year! 🍷👑 If your New Year's resolution was to sign up for Jankuary, then you'd best get on that fast because as of today there are only 3 days left until streamer spotlight signups close! 😱 Jankuary.com is the site, you know what to do 🫵😼

Beat the three original episodes of BioMenace in the @rigelgameworks.bsky.social remaster. First time I've really gone past the first couple levels of any of the episodes!

Very fun game, but you can see the original solo developer run out of level design ideas pretty quickly.
