Historian, professor, tired.
I honestly don’t know how anyone could survive this politically unless they were irredeemably corrupt, calloused beyond redemption, ethically degenerate, surrounded by slathering, craven enablers who lack any moral compass, and blindly propped up by mouth-breathing dipshits. Oh wait…

Same vibes.

I used to judge when undergrads would show up to class in pajamas. Now I’m just jealous.

I admit, one of my favorite genres of news are stories about MAGA’s manifest unfuckability. www.washingtonpost.com/style/power/...
MAGA singles are looking for love in Washington. It’s a challenge.
The politics of trying to find a partner in an overwhelmingly liberal city can be tricky: “My partner can’t think I’m a fascist. That’s crazy.”

That student email asking about office hours because they "want to talk about switching over to a history major" really gives you a reason to get up in the morning. #iykyk

Scholarship on early American Jewish History? Give me your titles. Asking for a student. I'm out of my depth here.

Ruthie just maimed a baby squirrel and was struggling so I had to finish the job. I am now traumatized.

I would literally rather stick needles under my fingernails than have to deal with students using AI on midterms.

Republicans will Weekend at Bernie's their cash cow into the next millennium.

Just finished reading The Memory of '76 by @michaelhattem.bsky.social. Can't recommend it enough. I just loved it. The perfect book for right now. Go buy it, especially if you're not an academic historian but want an accessible read to help you understand this bizarre commemorative moment.

It's Week 10 of the semester. What does your attendance look like? My survey course of 91 students is generally holding steady with between 65-75 percent attendance. It's weird to me that I think I'm doing pretty well while 25-35 percent of the class is just consistently not showing up.

There are ten times as many home health aides in the US as there are miners
right. given the numbers, “how to win back the working class” should be as much about care and service workers as hard hats. and yet.

In spite of the headline, there is the pesky legal matter that neither billionaires or anybody else can “give” money to “pay troops” or anything else. However, a great compromise would be for billionaires to pay more money into the general treasury through “taxes.”

New end-of-days plan: I’ve decided to become one of those people who always has fresh flowers in the house.

Perhaps we’re just misunderstanding what a “ballroom” is. Perhaps he just needs all that space to store the balls of congressional republicans.

You’d think that all the alpha male red pill raw meat maga bros would take issue with their guy’s current obsession with a pretty pretty princess ballroom.

Not to mention, I can't see this Ballroom quagmire ending any other way other than it ultimately killing him when the roof collapses as he clings to a golden replica of himself.
I literally spent months negotiating with the electric company and the city of Denver to get the permitting to have a single electrical wire rerouted out of a tree while President Marie Antoinette plows into THE WHITE HOUSE with a backhoe without any plan other than AI-generated opulence porn.
