Having to write these bios gives me a sense of existential dread. In other news, some people on other platforms think I occasionally have interesting things to say.

I know not everyone can keep up with all the grant terminations, but it’s important to know what we’re losing so I’ll try to compile them here.

First is a study on intimate partner violence with perinatal women (note: the #1 cause of death during pregnancy is homicide)

bsky.app/profile/rebe...
Today I lost an NIH grant training clinicians to do research about intimate partner violence with perinatal women.

More women are murdered in the perinatal period than die of obstetric complications.

I didn't just lose a grant. We lost an entire cohort of people building careers to prevent that.

I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.

Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.

Every one of Tom’s videos I have seen has been absolutely gripping, including this one
I sat down with Michael Fanone and Daniel Hodges, who both defended the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 and experienced some of the most brutal violence that day.

We watched their bodycam footage together - moment by moment.

Trump calls Jan 6 a “day of love.” This bodycam footage shows otherwise.

The latest HHS vaccine guidelines are dangerous:

-last year, 300 children died of the flu, 89% of whom were not vaccinated. 9 have already died this year.

-before the rotavirus vaccine, 55k-70k children were hospitalized annually, dozens of whom died

MAHA=death and disability
HHS's new guidelines will lead to more death and disability among children--MAHA, amirite?

US intervention is not liberation—it’s exploitation. As much as I want the regime in Iran gone, I would most definitely not want US military intervention to get us there.

The CDC changed the universal vaccine schedule & no longer recommends

Rotavirus
Hepatitis A & B
Meningitis
Influenza
RSV

I’ve cared for previously healthy kids who died from RSV, influenza and meningitis.

We all are going to be caring for a lot more now.

Miller: “Obviously Greenland should be part of the United States!”

These people are sick (derogatory)
TAPPER: Can you rule out the US is going to take Greenland by force?

MILLER: Greenland should be part of the US. By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland? The US is the power of NATO

T: So force is on the table?

M: Nobody is gonna fight the US militarily over future of Greenland

There have been massive uprisings in Iran in 2009, 2019, 2022, and now. Will this time be any different? Here are two things that seem promising.

Pretty surprising there are still people who ignore centuries of data and think imperialism might be good, actually.

There would at least be a Congressional hearing. Or statements from politicians. Something! France and India seem to be at least vaguely interested, but I haven’t seen anything from any US politician about this (which has been going on since before Friday)
A functional country would shut Grok down permanently. Like, immediately. Right now. Last week. Whatever. Just flip the switch. Obviously.

We are one. We are a practice that pre screens new families for vaccination status.

If you don't want to vaccinate your kid that's your right but maybe you should take them to Tenpenny Medical which is a few miles up the road.

It's all about finding a good fit.
Riley Gaines thinks her child matters more than other children, to the point that she thinks a pediatrician refusing elective care for her unvaccinated child (which would expose the other children in the practice to unnecessary risk) is a violation of the Hippocratic Oath.

Riley does have the right to make stupid decisions regarding her own child. She must also accept the consequences of being shunned in order to protect the children of intelligent parents. I pity her child.

Thank you for calling out the stupid boys being boys bullshit.

So dumb, probably even as they both prepare to have or spread their current/next infection to the peasants who dare protect themselves.

From what I am seeing in some folks, could blame brain fog. They were always this way. #Dumbanation

They’re going to do this over and over again—to Cuba, to Mexico, to Greenland, to Iran, to wherever they want. I honestly don’t know how we stop them. Can we arrange a massive protest in DC? Can we camp out at representatives’ offices? What do folks think would work?
Meanwhile Stephen Miller’s wife is posting stuff like this

Men are saying that once you post photos of yourself on social media, it is no longer yours. But, we do not consent to the ALTERATION of photos posted by us.

Again- the message is that it is OUR fault that others chose this action b/c WE posted an innocuous photo. Did children ask for this?
