I don't ever remember a political call to action this powerful, this relevant. I imagine a lot of people in the UK feel very seen.

@rodericogorman.bsky.social maybe some inspiration? There is no climate justice without social justice 🌱

If Holocaust denial exists in any capacity in Ireland it is as a comparatively less severe regional instance of a global phenomenon, which is nonetheless stripped of context and treated as a standalone Irish issue

My most mildly controversial opinion is that I believe everyone should have a name that’s not shared by any other family members and there should be no stigma whatsoever about changing it if they don’t like it, for any reason.

Everyone involved in this "Board of Peace" needs to be tried at the Hague and executed for their crimes against Humanity in Gaza. Jared Kushner,Trump, Vance, Netanyahu & his cabinet, all of them

Trying to profit of the Genocide of Palestinians with real estate is like comic book supervillain evil.
Jared Kushner presented a 'master plan' for Gaza at the Board of Peace event this morning. Slides included 'New Gaza' and 'New Rafah'.

Not just their lack of action.
Their continued use of the publisher speaks volumes.

"Yes it's shocking, but the laundry comes back so lovely and fresh from the Nuns..."
This is the kind of thing our political leaders continue to endorse by way of their lack of action.

In our conservative estimate, 41 percent of Grok’s images — or 1.8 million — were sexualized depictions of women. Separately, CCDH analyzed how many were sexualized images across genders and ages. Their findings: an estimated 3 million images, including more than 23,000 of children.

Yes, do this now. The world needs Nigella.
If this happens, it will make literally everything better. All of it. Everything in the world.

@nigella.bsky.social in our living rooms every Tuesday throughout Autumn - genuinely life-changing stuff.

In case you’re wondering what sound I make while sitting on the bus and I realise I have pocket-dialed my ex, it is a mini scream that is quite disconcerting for my fellow passengers.

This photo stopped me in my tracks. We cannot allow this to happen again. Never again is not just a slogan, it's a call to action.
On this day in 1944, a 4 year old Dutch Jewish boy perished in Westerbork. He had been separated when the family went into hiding and was subsequently betrayed leading to him being deported alone. His parents and a sibling survived the Shoah. His name was Thomas Alfred Wolff

The best way of describing someone who’s all talk and no action that I’ve ever heard in the UK, by far, is “they’re all wardrobe and no Narnia.”

* read on for fun ways of saying “all talk and no action” in other languages (a thread)

The response of the Western political media class to the screamingly obvious was to join the genocide on the side of the genocidaires. They saw what we all could see & they chose to enable it
It should have been obv to all the second the genocide started that it's ultimate end point was going to be the complete theft of Gaza of from the Gazans. We now see the exact form it will take: Trump as Extractivist in Chief, the Emperor of Plunder & Land Grabbing
I’ve been reading Trump’s "Board of Peace Charter," and despite the name, this isn’t a multilateral institution, it’s a centralised structure built entirely around the authority of one person (Trump).

We all get a bit crabby in these times.
That Trump speech yesterday had me very crabby about the US and by extension about Americans themselves, but that's unfair on the many Americans who are putting themselves on the line to oppose that bag of human waste and after a sleep I'm back to wishing them well and keeping my fingers crossed

For those of you who recognise that the system is broken and are trying your best to address it, you have my unwavering respect. You're braver than I will ever be in a place that is more dangerous than I'll ever experience. Thank you for all you're doing. I hope you get to know peace some day.

Absolutely, I will not take part in a US vs Europe thing. Many Americans are my friends and I have great respect for how they’re dealing with this.
There seems to be a lot of US vs Europe tension here today so if you're wondering if we like you:

MAGA: No
Blue MAGA: Also no
Trying to address a system that is fucked while acknowledging that both parties are complicit in imperialism: Sure. You're probably cool.

Omg😂

Yeah, this.
People from outside Ireland occasionally ask me, "Why is Bono, an international music titan from Ireland, not all that loved in Ireland?". The answer in its entirety is a complex one, but "He sent Dolly Parton a birthday cake and put his own name on it" goes a long way to summing it up.

So many awful revelations in this article, from judges placing their own bias over the care & safety of the children in the care of the State, the the use of Special Emergency Placements for children which, "have lesser regulations and requirements compared to mainstream facilities."

Absolutely. Their absence now is very telling.

What they showed us was that the Irish people are thoughtful and willing to embrace change when suffering and inequality is made clear.

What have they even done following the CA on drug use?
I trust Irish people to make good decisions when presented with impartial evidence and time to reflect. I want to live in an Ireland where CAs play an ongoing role in shaping policy with recommendations that must be engaged with in good faith by the government of the day. #spéirgorm
