Holy shit.
The IT edition where they call for the re-introduction of workhouses and magdalen laundries.

Sometime ago I was on here looking for a probation officer who was working in 2010 in the UK and who also might have worked with prisoners pre release. I can’t remember who got in touch but if there is anyone who fits the bill, pls get in touch. It’s for a book,

Many thanks.

At some point (*soon*), we have to release ourselves of our need to refer to these actions as illegal. Legality has never curtailed authoritarianism.

Unethical. Inhumane. Death dealing. We have so many more words to help with this.

Why should it be any different now?
The joke about masculinity is that it’s always in crisis, I never expected that particular insight from my gender studies minor field to define global politics in my middle age

The situation in Venezuela. We don’t need to say what it is, it just involves Venezuela ok. And someone else. We don’t need to discuss them.

Just everyone remember international law ok? Ok.

Diagnosis is unstable. Institutions pursue stability because it is administratively useful. When unstable human experience is forced into stable categories, people adapt to survive. The costs increase when labels carry stigma, are treated as final, and systems resist acknowledging error.

We STILL don’t talk about this enough.

Lesbian is a beautiful word, friends.
Lesbian, lesbian, lesbian!

Also, the LOVE between these two. The look she’s giving him😍
“Can’t believe NYC elected a Muslim as mayor.”

In truth—a Black American Christian woman swearing in a Ugandan American Muslim of South Asian ethnicity as his Syrian American wife holds the Qurans he swears in on, all while standing on the steps of a subway station—is the most NYC thing imaginable.

We need everyone to treat the next election as a referendum on whether we believe this is acceptable. #spéirgorm
Broken social contract
Have no doubt this is down to Irish Government policy that not only lets wealthy owners sit on their assets, it actually rewards them for it

It’d be difficult to overstate how little interest I have in football, but I am possibly kind of a little curious about Saipan?

Sadly, despite the headline, he’s not actually thinking about suing the bear.

Exactly. I’m more worried about the current crowd.
While there aren't any obvious candidates to be "an Irish Trump", individual points of a hard right agenda can, will, and have been normalised and delivered by existing political and media structures.

Irish friends, family & neighbors: kick him out NOW! Ban him & his organization from your shores.
If you dont act early, you will become as fascist as America before you know it!

Goodnight, friends ✨
Open up this picture fully.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

Xmas/New Year can be an awful time for victims of domestic abuse. I was so frustrated with the information & (lack of) supports for people with children who have left an abusive partner that I wrote a free booklet on the subject. Send an email to iampowerfulandstrong@gmail .com if you want a copy.

Best 🧵 ever.
THREAD.

3 years ago, with no warning, a brilliant orange farm cat wandered over from the draughty barn where he had been living, in rural Cornwall, and decided he wanted to live with us instead.

We decided to call him Jim.

This is the first photo I took of him, on that night: December 1st, 2022.
