irish government to require all pedestrians and cyclists to dress like this so that drivers will maybe look at them
February 5, 2026 at 9:25 AM
No plans to slow down drivers.
No plans to prevent red-light runners.
Few plans to segregate people driving from people cycling or scooting.
No plans to enforce existing legislation for drivers.
No plans to limit driver's speed in areas using geofenced regions.

Too much focus on the wrong issues.
The Government plans to introduce regulations making it mandatory for users of e-bikes and e-scooters to wear helmets and high-visibility clothing.

The ring road cannot address the gridlock and traffic faced in Galway City.
There will still be thousands of cars entering and exciting Galway each day.
There will still be bottlenecks and too many cars.

The concept of induced demand seems to be completely missing from this development.

Celebrated my birthday early with a weekend away in Schull, Co. Cork. Got lucky with the weather! Laura knows how to pick presents, that's for sure.

If you're ever struggling with imposter syndrome, read a few IT opinion pieces. You'll bounce right back.

This entire piece boils down to
"School's are busy and stressful places for everyone, but I don't know if we should just be decent to all students and call them what they wish to be called."

Dozens of people I know, as well as those engaging with CATU, have already received notices for March/April time, coinciding with the changes in regulation.

This change will only benefit landlords, especially in the long run.

We need a sincere housing plan delivered now.
The Government has defended the new rent rules due to come into force on 1 March, saying that a balance must be struck between strengthening tenants' rights while also increasing investment.

This is the kind of thing our political leaders continue to endorse by way of their lack of action.

In our conservative estimate, 41 percent of Grok’s images — or 1.8 million — were sexualized depictions of women. Separately, CCDH analyzed how many were sexualized images across genders and ages. Their findings: an estimated 3 million images, including more than 23,000 of children.

Without adequate affordable housing available, I expect we'll see a lot more of these homes and subsequent planning issues over the next few years

People are desperate for permanent homes to live their lives, to have their families, and plan for the future.

The social hysteria and moral panic over trans people is completely overblown but it is alarming to see it influencing our judges and courts.

Using someone's preferred name and/or pronouns, is such a basic, easy thing to do that costs nothing. Anyone unwilling to do so should be embarrassed

AI erodes one's ability to critically think for themselves.

Even using it for basic tasks is counterproductive.

We should think creatively by ourselves and teach children to do the same.

Generative AI is not needed in schools.
The OECD has warned that the uncritical adoption of generative AI as a tool in education could inadvertently undermine the development of key human skills such as critical thinking and evaluative judgment in students

The shame the government should feel about this versus what they will actually experience are worlds apart.

There is no reason anyone should die on the streets, unhoused, in this country.

All our measures of progress and growth are meaningless to me when not everyone has a roof over their heads.

Is it any wonder road deaths continue to plague Ireland when this is the attitude TDs take to road safety?

My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

Sorry but we literally debunked this like last month when he did this dog whistle. Fintan O'Toole literally did the maths, in the Times no less, that showed that this isn't true.

Why are we bothering to publish such an obvious lie when we know it's a lie?
