My mam's a Dub, her whole family are Dubs, are working class - never heard of coddle or mentioned coddle ever.
My Dad was born in Longford but lived in Dublin, his whole family were Dubs, bit more middle class, and they've never mentioned or made coddle in my life. It's a conspiracy

Clendennen is also caught out in the end of the clip, conflating the self-made housing crisis of Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil to be to do with immigrants.

If every immigrant left tomorrow our housing crisis would still exist.
And if no immigrants ever came here our housing crisis would be worse!

No disagreement here

Rural people are but the farmers and farming lobby carry so much weight, we don't get listened to.
At least, that's how it feels

Again, I believe there is the possibility of change within them, that is worth challenging them on.

If they can't subscribe to making the changes required to be a real party of the left, they won't form part of a left alliance in any shape or form.

Without trying anything, we remain as we are

Because FG and FF are not to be trusted, have had ample opportunities to work on these issues in government, and are capitalist parties.
They're unlikely (and unwilling) to change.

I have more faith in SF coming around to progressive politics for all than I do for FF/FG.
November 4, 2025 at 4:47 PM
Why are they the only options in this hypothetical?

Why isn't there an option that SF does a bit of self-reflection and redefines themselves as a party for all people rather than one that caters to racists? There is time and it would be welcomed by everyone on the left.
November 4, 2025 at 1:10 PM
You don't see any issue with putting forth a racist party into government?
November 4, 2025 at 12:43 PM
Or Sinn Féin could be less racist and make it a lot easier for everyone.

Oh, right. Yeah, fair enough. Similar issue with people eating ice creams during heat waves.
Poor editorial standards.

Flying though is a useful metric and metaphor for separating the wealthy and ordinary people, as the wealthy take significantly more flights than working class people.
November 3, 2025 at 9:40 PM
What's the point? That ordinary people have to make changes to their lives too?

Of course they will, and should - this report should be used to spearhead a better, more equitable way of living in the face of the climate crisis.

Not sure why you shared information from a different report, when the top 10% in Ireland earn over €72K - www.revenue.ie/en/corporate...

The president spoke in the first language of our country...a complete and utter non-event.

If she spoke exclusively as Gaeilge, I would understand people having difficulties.

I'm really hoping Connolly spearheads an Irish language programme to get everyone learning and speaking more Irish

Hear me out but what if we could save money and didn't have to kill anybody to create our power?
October 29, 2025 at 12:10 PM
Very reasonable and welcome retort!

Hope he finds form and makes it interesting
October 25, 2025 at 9:49 PM
It's deliberate unwillingness to engage with the Irish language imo. We need to go beyond naming things in Irish as a method to preserve the language.
