In Berlin and paid a visit to the Magnus Hirschfeld memorial: A pioneer of gay and trans rights who became an early target of Nazi book burnings and whose name and work remained buried too long. Right-wing chuds like to claim that being trans is a new concept, but trans people have always been here.
A memorial plaque that reads "Through science to justice: It was under this guiding principle that Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld founded the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft in 1919. The institute was raided by Nazis in 1933, with more than 12000 pieces of writing being publicly burned, and was later destroyed during WW2. Prior to its destruction, the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft provided medical care and support to all those who were persecuted for their sexuality."
