It amused me that Our Beloved Premier, Danielle Smith, met the news of the seizure of the President of Venezuela with "This just further underlines that we need to build a new pipeline".

There is no problem in the universe that cannot be solved with another pipeline, you see.

A reminder - before Trump, MAGA, Musk and Fox rewrote history - that this is what the entire country agreed had happened five years ago today:

You know this whole Venezuela thing is going to cost billions.

Would have been cheaper just to invest in solar power and wind power.

Also, worried about drugs? How about Americans STOP FUELING THE DEMAND

This is what happened to those who spoke out against Hitler in Nazi Germany in the beginning of the war. By the end of the war more than 70,000 people were murdered or disappeared for being bart of the Resistance. #ResistNow while we still can.
Stop Trump's military aggression in #Venezuela NOW!☮️
What in the Gestapo is going on in Grand Rapids?

Watch this activist get arrested *mid-interview* for speaking out against U.S. action in Venezuela.

Lougheed’s "Sacred Trust" was simple: healthcare belongs to the people, not politicians.
Now, with #Bill11 and the #CorruptCare scandal, that trust is gone. We’re watching a public right be turned into a private luxury. It’s a heartbreaking reversal of everything he believed in.

It’s genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

Uh, Canada, you might want to say something definitive about respecting sovereignty of Arctic states sooner rather than later.
TAPPER: Can you rule out the US is going to take Greenland by force?

MILLER: Greenland should be part of the US. By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland? The US is the power of NATO

T: So force is on the table?

M: Nobody is gonna fight the US militarily over future of Greenland

One guy tried, unsuccessfully, to blow up a plane with a bomb in his sneakers, and everybody had to take off their shoes at the airport for the next 20 years.

Chatbots have a collective body count equal to Richard "The Night Stalker" Ramirez, and they're trying to put them in schools.
30 years ago they were like we have to ban song lyrics for the children but it’s full steam ahead for the here’s how to do drugs until you die machine
“ChatGPT started coaching Sam on how to take drugs, recover from them and plan further binges. It gave him specific doses of illegal substances, and in one chat, it wrote, ‘Hell yes—let’s go full trippy mode’”

With Trump very transparently saying that the invasion of Venezuela was to take their oil, let's dive into oil markets. TL;DR - it's not at all clear to me that Trump or the people around him have any coherent long term strategy.

What Does Danielle Smith Think of Trump's Invasion of Venezuela? No Idea.

Venezuelan oil competes with AB oil in the US market.

Trump says he invaded for the oil. Sounds like a big issue for AB, right?

Well, maybe not.

2025 was mostly garbage, but there were some good moments.

One of my favorites was when a family of beavers built a dam in just a few days, saving the Czech Republic 30 million Czech koruna (US$1.2 million) for a wetland restoration project the government had been planning for 7 years. 🦫 🌿
These eager beavers saved the Czech government $1.2 million
After plans stalled for a new dam in the Czech Republic, eight beavers saved the day seemingly overnight. “At this point, nothing that beavers do surprises me.”

Since yesterday multiple threats of invasion of Canada has been made by the US and that includes Trump alluding to it too. And the Alberta separatists are chirping hard. Tell me again how I was overreacting last year. Go ahead. I want to hear you rationalize that now.

This story is missing some important info. For people not familiar with Roberts Banks, it’s a major port south of Delta. It’s also a estuary critical to the survival of the Fraser Chinook salmon and the Southern Resident Killers Whales, which are currently on the GoC’s endangered list.
