Local politician BIG MAD that people are engaging in politics, story at 6.
Alberta MLA Angela Pitt accuses school principal of weaponizing position to push recall petition — principal says he’s specifically not been advertising his title, but Pitt has now brought it to the forefront.

This. Also means people shouldn’t get their hopes up too much about this damaging Trump. Might this be too much for MAGA? Maybe. Or they’ll just rationalize his abhorrent behaviour like they have a hundred times before.
Trump bragged about grappling women by the pu**y & barging into rooms of partially dressed, young pageant contestants. A jury concluded he assaulted E. Jean Carroll in a dressing room. So nothing that’s in the Epstein emails is a surprise. It’s just confirmation.

My god (sorry I’m late on a bunch of this stuff. But wow!)

According to this NYT report, the head of the FBI and the Attorney General are holding meetings *in the Situation Room* with GOP lawmakers they are trying to pressure to rescind their votes to release the Epstein info. This is madness.

Can we circle back to the part where the NY Times never disclosed that they have incriminating information on Donald Trump from sent by Epstein that's been sitting on their email servers for nearly a decade?
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

It will not surprise you to learn that many of these same countries are the ones moving to block the just transition mechanism--the thing that would actually help the world move away from fossil fuels--at #COP30
As #COP30 gets underway in Belem, a new report shows that four countries—Australia, Canada, Norway and the U.S.—have collectively *increased* oil and gas production 40% since the Paris Agreement was signed 10 years ago @rishpardikar.bsky.social writes: drilled.media/news/COP30-OCI

I feel like the business community in Canada is just not getting the message - there is no miracle deal with Trump and any arrangement we make will be immediately upended when he somehow takes offence at some trivial thing.

The answer Sen, Shaheen is that since America elected the Black man to be president, the official position of the Republican Party is “not to work together with Democrats to address the problems that are facing this country.”
Shaheen: "When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

Totally weird that oil is $60 a barrel and gas is still $1.29. Must be that horrible carbon tax.

Pretty thorough reporting on the fact the Biden administration—including the president himself—were aware that what was happening in Gaza was ethnic cleansing, and refused to do anything about it.

This is actually a pretty standard and unremarkable move, as evidenced by Justice Jackson issuing it.

But most people won't believe that for several good reasons.

#BREAKING: Justice Jackson has issued an "administrative" stay, temporarily pausing a district court order that would've required the USDA to continue using contingency funds to pay SNAP benefits.

The stay expires 48 hours after the First Circuit rules on USDA's request for a stay pending appeal.

That’s not happening for the Liberals again, unless the NDP don’t run anyone. Carney isn’t getting the progressive vote after his performance in the last six months. Looking at the elections before 2025 will give you a true sense how much that riding splits Lib/NDP, and allows the CPC the win.
Will you look at how many polls in Matt Jeneroux's Edmonton riding went Liberal in the last election.
Closest Conservative win in the city; 5%. (narrower than Griesbach flipping from NDP, and South East, where mayor/ex-MP Sohi ran for Libs)
