City Council’s priorities are completely out of whack. They can’t clean streets, can’t tow vehicles, and are making it harder for small businesses to survive, all while handing out millions of dollars to the billionaire owner of a hockey club. Absolutely shameful.

This is something the Nazis used to do to Jewish children in the camps. It happened to a man I knew when he was a child in Auschwitz. The camp guards thought it was funny as hell.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

🧵In this new op-ed in the Edmonton Journal, @pinglamjoeip.bsky.social and I debunk the myth that EDI hiring and “reverse discrimination” happened at University of Alberta.

In actuality, the U of A has not made any advancement in EDI hiring.
Opinion: Little evidence of EDI hiring policy in practice at the U of A
The U of A’s recruitment data does not show any signs of progress in EDI, let alone patterns of reverse discrimination.

Thank you to our incredible partners at DFP who live up to their name and purpose. Moving people on "is it fascism" matters bc we find it correlates to people's desire to be ACTIVATED in non-violent direct action, the necessary condition to bring down pillars that prop authoritarian regime.
NEW w/ @tarabuss.bsky.social and @anatosaurus.bsky.social: Last April, 50% of voters believed that “the Trump administration has completely broken from previous standards and is operating more like a fascist regime.”

Today, that number is 58%.

Easy solution: reward the best teams with the best draft picks.
On Feb. 7 and 9, the Jazz removed Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. before the beginning of the fourth quarter and did not return them to the game. The Pacers were fined for violating the player participation policy for holding out Pascal Siakam and two other starters Feb. 3.
The NBA has fined the Utah Jazz $500,000 and the Indiana Pacers $100,000 related to the management of their rosters for recent games.
