The Dutch understand gratitude and appreciation for sacrifice, even if the Trump administration does not. #LestWeForget
1/ Eleven Dutch parties across the political spectrum from socialist to conservative have issued a joint appeal to a provincial government to build a memorial to Black American soldiers who died in World War II, to replace one removed from the Netherlands American Cemetery. ⬇️

Interesting study from RAND arguing that AI increases jobs, rather than replacing them.

The reason? Most jobs are complex.

Microsoft, for example, says 'political scientists' will be easily replaced.

Buddy, I do like six different jobs.

I feel like every other advertisements on many of the podcasts I listen to are the big tech firms like Google trying to convince Canada that it does not need or want data sovereignty.
omg.

Meta clearly trying to polarize the issue of digital sovereignty by running this in the Hub.

Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?

A failed UCP candidate is suing @pressprogress.ca for reporting and quoting things she said.

With no anti-SLAPP protection in Alberta, they've been drawn into a long, costly legal battle.

If you believe in accountability and a free press, and can spare it, give them your support.
@pressprogress.ca needs your solidarity and support right now more than ever

We’re raising money to pay our legal bills – and to be blunt, we’re going to need a lot of help

Black American soldiers literally dug these WWII graves. Traumatic. To acknowledge that fact at a cemetery they helped construct is something the Heritage Foundation cannot accept. As Veterans Day approaches, never forget that this country both compels and disrespects Black military service. Always.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Hell, from the 1980s all the way through the Harper years, support for relatively *high* immigration enjoyed a bipartisan, cross-ideological consensus in Canada. Only now, with this fucked up right-wing populist bullshit happening, have we started turning against it.
I kind of feel this way too. Conservatives used to be all about fiscal responsibility and low taxes and low immigration and all. Now they’re just cuckoo bananas.
