Hey, #abpoli, did any of you get a call from the Alberta Govt tonight for the budget 2025 budget town hall with Horner? Cuz they had my number - for reasons that escape me.
Did they rent wax figures?

One difference between Quebec and Alberta is that in Quebec, the covid vax is free to anyone 65+, while in AB it is only free for low income seniors 65+. NACI says that all those 65+ are high risk. AB claims to be following NACI recommendations but are clearly not. #abpoli

The #1 benefit of going to an elite college is access to networks

But the #2 benefit is going through the same "elite" educational process as a lot of these people, realizing they have no magic insight gifted by said process, and being able to plainly say they're full of bullshit

I’m of two minds about this “male loneliness crisis” or whatever. On one hand it’s pretty clear that broken social relations (community, romantic, whatever) is a social problem.

On the other hand dawg you can’t sit in the house unwashed gaming with fascists and expect to get any play from women.

There's tons of evidence that the 14th Amendment, in addition to making sure former slaves were in fact citizens, was also about settling the citizenship questions around those emigrating and settling in the US and the children of those immigrants, who were born there. No question it was about both.

I remember the 70s. Wasn't "good". Wasn't safe.

"But your parents couldn't track your every waking moment!"

It's 10pm. Do you know where your kids are?

No, bc they didn't fucking care not bc they lacked technology.

That's what ppl want again. To not care. About a lot of things.

It's weird to hear govts talking about how it's okay now to pollute more when I can remember garbage lining every highway and air I could see because it was layered with exhaust from cars and industrial plant spew. Why are we going back to this?

1/ Alberta is blessed with mountains, clean air, low pollution; that’s what makes AB a great place to raise a family.

Astonishing to hear the enviro minister this week saying that industry can pollute without any limits because AB’s enviro protections are “outdated” – then do something about it!

First of all, if you were going to do an "accountability test" on authority, you pick Alberta? Where they can't even spell the word. Second, the Edmonton police salivate over any opportunity to be assholes, so there's that. Most disturbing, however? This is textbook dictator shit. #ableg #cdnpoli

The Premier of Alberta is pushing an American meme about the court system when she says courts shouldn't weigh in on constitutional matters. That's an American idea and look where it's gotten them. The courts job is to remind govt the constitution applies to them to. #cdnpoli #ableg #abpoli

The whole "federal judges aren't impartial" bs is stolen from fascism in the US. There's no basis for it in Canadian judicial reality. Canadian fascism is awful enough without Danielle Smith importing an even worse version of it from Americans. #abpoli
Smith doubled down on her anti court rhetoric today...

She even seemed to suggest that federally appointed judges couldn't render impartial rulings and that she believed her interpretation should always be above theirs.
