As you begin to build your 2026 reading lists (which is a thing I assume some people do), consider adding my really very short book on AI and Eugenics.

Disabling Intelligences:Legacies of Eugenics and How We are Wrong about AI has a lot in under 50k words.

You can't cite one single successful AI marketing campaign for a book, and yet insist that it is "necessary" for people to be competitive.

I think this letter encapsulates the fallacy at the heart of generative AI.
Many of these things already exist and they work well with almost 100% accuracy.
But a powerful and reliable business intelligence solution doesn't carry "I am very smart I talk to robot" hype, so people like this dismiss it

In addition to Greg’s excellent points, stripping these artworks of their cultural and historical context is so gross. Not all of those artists believed in Christmas, Marilyn Monroe is on record at SEVERAL points lamenting her lack of agency, and reducing Van Gogh to an EAR TREE is nasty-ass work
Think how many millions of public school students have created glorious holiday art with their own minds and hands this month.

Weingarten could be sharing actual art and celebrating actual human kids whom the @aft.org is supposed to be serving.

But no. She's sharing "A.i." garbage based on theft.
This one was such fun… so I am sharing

Gotta say it is jarring to see people including GenAI images with their writing posts. If you think nothing of using a generated image, I have to wonder if you've actually written the words you are showing off 🤷‍♂️

I didn't complete that many otomes this year, but I did finish a few:
Falling for Yaoguais (Fave LI: Mo Daan)
Sympathy Kiss (Fave LI: Nori Tainaka)
Psychedelica BB (Fave LI: none)
Psychedelica AH (Fave LI: Lugus)
Cinderella Phenomenon (Fave LI: Karma)
TxA (Fave LI: Cinderella)

AI really is a signal of our fear of our own pleasure and mortality

The second we had awakenings about the depth and breadth of our desires and genders and bodies. And physicalities

They wanted to create something to replace it and just say yes all the time

This confirms Weizenbaum’s contention that technology in general is a profoundly conservative force. It is deployed to prop up existing power structures and prevent meaningful change.

In this sense, AI is the quintessential technology of conservatism. It is the past mashed up and sold as new.

Just so I’ve been 100% clear on this recently, and not just through reposting people saying things better than I think I’d be able to: the attack on trans rights—especially on trans healthcare—is hate. It’s not science. It’s not "protecting" kids. It’s 100% fucking hate, and it’s wrong.
