Another week, another legend on Aquarium Drunkard’s Transmissions podcast. This time around, Jason P. Woodbury talks with Kate Pierson of the B-52s — a wide ranging chat that gets into Devo, Pee-Wee Herman, Yoko Ono, Julee Cruise and beyond. The B-52s are never anything less than fascinating; I heard there was a documentary in the works a few years back, but it may still be in the planning stages. I’m sure it would be great. The Beach Boys took the “America’s Band” title at some point, but we’d be better off it was the B-52’s, frankly.
**Kate Says:** Well, the B-52s writing together was very complex because it’s by committee, putting the songs together. I mean, that’s what really made us unique though, is that we write like that, and when you do that sort of jamming and you get our collective unconscious going and all this stuff spews out of your mind, of the collective mind. You never know what’s going to happen.
Listening to this week’s Transmissions naturally put me in the mood to listen to the B-52s, so I went to a vintage audience tape of the band in Minneapolis in 1979 — and it did not disappoint. In fact, it might be one of the most purely intense B-52s tapes I’ve heard, the quartet tearing through their early repertoire with endless reserves joy and vigor. Next stop, Planet Claire …

How are rural residents supposed to shop around for emergency care? What do they do when there's only one hospital for miles?

The important thing to bear in mind as Trump's popularity begins to wobble is that the disastrous economic consequences of the things he's done in the first 10 months of this term have not even *begun* to hit. We've been coasting on the fumes of the economy he inherited and soon they'll be gone.
my wife and her entire team were fired over Zoom from their program manager jobs at a local nonprofit Seattle hospital this Spring because Trump just stopped paying Medicaid reimbursements. and this is a relatively affluent urban center

This is a succinct description of it. Dementia progression is different for different people and the medication he is taking is likely helping but the cracks are still there and becoming increasingly difficult to write off as anything other than a marked cognitive issue
