I dunno, but the discourse had me thinking generally about how "back where it started" endings are kind of hack. Not calling any particular show out, it can still work but just one of those types of ending that feels cheap sometimes
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

When something in a video game takes like a dozen tries or like an hour to beat we tend to consider it pretty hard. Stuff in real life that only takes that long is very easy!
