The population of homeless individuals continues to outpace the availability of shelters. We must increase the supply and availability of housing to address the root cause of homelessness, while also expanding holistic services to help these individuals with stay in permanent housing.

The inability to pay rent causes fewer funds to build more affordable housing units. We need additional services available to support the housing system in Seattle, including faster and cost-effective means of construction.

We need more resources to support Washingtonians working to end homelessness. Understaffed homeless shelters are unacceptable as support for those looking to get into permanent housing, as well as the staff who wants to keep them off the streets.
Seattle youth homelessness nonprofit workers quit over growing concerns
Former and current YouthCare employees are vocally frustrated with the quality of care the shelter is providing after deep financial cuts.

For decades, federal sound insulation programs have reduced aircraft noise for nearby homes, but current rules generally prevent the Federal Aviation Administration from funding repairs when earlier insulation has deteriorated or failed.
