Every photo from Minneapolis looks like this. Cops decked out with guns and full tac gear facing off against people in bathrobes, parkas, and sweatpants armed only with whistles and cell phones.

Yet every verified MAGA chode on X dutifully calls it a riot or violent insurrection.

I didn't watch enough of Van Deer Beek's work. I should probably rectify that. But as a 48-year-old who RELUCTANTLY followed the advice of his doctor and got a colonoscopy, and then had the GI doctor say, "Tell your doctor he saved your life," all I can think is: GET YOUR DAMN COLONOSCOPIES, PEOPLE.
RIP James Van Der Beek. Varsity Blues and Dawson's Creek were legendary, and his Power Rangers short was incredible. He always seemed so cool because he was always in on the joke.

Both he and Chadwick Boseman dead in their 40s with colorectal cancer. So sad.

People talk about what should be the first-in-the-nation primary, but honestly, hard to beat Michigan:
-Union state
-Detroit has a large Black population
-Swingy suburbs
-More racially and ethnically diverse than Iowa or New Hampshire

Minnesota still needs your attention
This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

i do think there's a systematic problem with how Dems are approaching fundraising but Rs have the same problem way worse with small-dollar donors. my prior is that after nominees are set and matchups firm up there will be a ton of money, but maybe not
This is a huge deal. After years of leading in fundraising, Dem small donors are (rightly) pissed off at the spam texts and emails, as well as at congressional leadership. Meanwhile, GOP billionaire money is hitting record levels. Perfect storm.

Someone said on Twitter a while back that it was an old KGB/Russian disinformation tactic to accuse your enemies of doing what you yourself are doing--that way when you say something like, "No, YOU did that," you sound batshit crazy. Anyway, I'm thinking of that today, for no particular reason.

The Epstein class: the stock market is more important than holding accountable child sex traffickers and rapists.
Bondi crashes out over Epstein: "The Dow is over 50,000 dollars! I don't know why you're laughing. You're a great stock trader as I hear, Raskin. The Dow is over 50,000 right now. The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records. That's what we should be talking about."

Lieu plays Bondi the infamous clip of Trump & Epstein partying together & asks her if there were underaged girls at any party the two attended

"This is so ridiculous," Bondi says. "There's no evidence that Donald Trump has committed a crime"

"I believe you just lied under oath," Lieu replies

What the government has taught us time and again is that they will lie about the details of immigration actions.
“While the FBI field office in Boise initially said in a statement that claims of children being zip-tied were ‘completely false,’ officials there later amended that assertion, telling reporters that no ‘young’ children were zip-tied.”

I find this question about whether chatbots are “alive” to be truly, truly boring. You can torture a definition of “life” so that it includes chatbots or you can listen to actual, unequivocal flesh-and-blood people talking about harm it does them *right now*.

Yup. We are also getting earlier diagnoses, and better outcomes. As our doctors told us when our son was diagnosed at two: "Twenty-five years ago he wouldn't have been diagnosed until he got to preschool and he still wasn't speaking...and he would have had a lot more bad habits to unlearn."
Increasing autism rates over the last 25 years may just be kids with mild forms getting diagnosed. Rates of moderate to severe impairment due to autism have actually fallen slightly.
