Vietnam felt that way for sure and I think it was a very deliberate choice that was very wrong. As for the other ones...damnit, you may have a point. (I still stan Prohibition and Hemingway, tho.)

Having been the victim of an aggravated assault where an in-law offered to send his cousins to "take care of the guy," but I didn't take him up on it and in fact ended up testifying against him in court, I can agree that "people will solve that problem themselves" is not in fact a good solution.
