It’s so funny that this guy’s entire thing is “Oh are you triggered by what I have to say about marginalized people” but he loses it when someone more well-liked than he will ever be talks about an actual injustice

On NPR on Friday, there was a story of a 4-year-old--an American citizen--who hasn't left her house since early December, not even to play in the yard. And her 8-year-old brother recently stopped going to school, too. Their father is undocumented, and the family doesn't want to risk him being taken.

Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.

The 2020s will be remembered as the "try not to cry while telling your spouse about some news you just saw on your phone" era.

It's already demoralizing to be a federal thug, a barely sentient ogre. Nobody likes or respects you. But then you go to work in -19 weather thinking surely today you'll get a break from people yelling at you. But no there they are. They're not even cold
Outside the Twin Cities this morning, where it is -19F—

Minnesotans are gathered early outside the Whipple Federal Building. ICE and DHS agents currently arriving at work to much disapproval.

Prison for all ICE scumbags. Misogynist, racist, fascist losers who’ve been told they’re above the law. They all need to be thrown in a fucking dungeon for life.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

Do the announcers for NFL on Prime broadcasts know that there are circles around random defenders? They literally never mention it.

"what are we going to do with 20,000 ICE agents if we abolish ice" well to start with I think we should all literally spit on them in public for the rest of their lives

Was listening to the Good One podcast episode with @chrisgethard.bsky.social titled "The Death of the Middle Class Comedian" when I got an ad for a podcast called Networth and Chill. It felt extremely dystopian.

If officials can’t bring themselves to arrest someone who is captured on camera from multiple angles killing someone in cold blood, they should just step aside so someone with a backbone can lead
Arrest the murderer and arrest Bovino. Not complicated.

It's a tie between The Americans and The Leftovers.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

To win my vote the next dem has to do the following as a baseline-
1. Rebuild the DoE.
2. Stop calling the post office a business and start treating it as a constitutionally guaranteed public good.
3. Disband ice and remake the DHS
4. Refund the arts.
5. Restore everything nuked by RFK

If I call your company, get put on hold, and have to listen to the same 30 second ad on constant repeat, then all of the executives at your company should be drawn and quartered.

Putting my radical take out there that if you participated in bullying Parker Malloy, a trans journalist with a long history of queer advocacy off this site, for the reason that she asked "why" on a pic putting tits on a chibi character on a game marketed to children, you're kind of a shit person

It's the end of the year, AKA the time a bunch of your friends post their favorite movies on letterboxd and you see that they are terrible at taking screenshots.

Damn this is such an incredible essay. Now I really want to rewatch the movie again.
IT'S A WONDERFUL ESSAY: It seems people usually rewatch 'It's a Wonderful Life' just before Christmas. Can I commend to you this marvelous essay we published a few years ago? It could change the way you understand that classic movie.

There Is No Mary Problem in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’
George’s vision of his wife without him is essential to the film, but critics continue to miss its true—and profound—meaning.

For me the final straw was when I got 15 tweets into a really interesting thread before the guy started outright talking about race science. It was so subtle that I assume most people wouldn't have noticed it. I googled the guy and he's a notorious bigot, and yet the algorithm showed me his stuff.
Not that anyone likely cares, nor does it really matter, but I finally (probably a couple years too late) pulled the plug on Twitter, and will be posting here exclusively. It felt like when my local mall started dying--except with more bigots, creeps, and the bad kind of weirdo.
