Sorry if i am talking out of my ass here, but when it became basically impossible to retire without "investing," of course the target switched to 'investors,' because consumers by law have to get something in return for their money, but investors do not.
I worry that none of us have enough money to be the target demographic for anything. The commercials are for investors not consumers.
i worry that a 5-year stretch of nothing but ads for NFTs, bitcoin, and AI is a long enough gap that this nation's once-great advertising industry will forget how to sell a product people actually want

Jeff Bezos makes enough money to fully fund this literally every two minutes.
Former Washington Post journalists have launched a GoFundMe to help repatriate fired staff members who are effectively stranded in foreign countries.

One of the richest men in the world fired them from the paper and didn’t even pay to ensure they got home.

I FUCKING SWEAR TO GOD IT HAPPENED AGAIN- I check out a book from the library that I'm excited to read and THE NEXT DAY the book's author says some ignorant pro-AI shit and I'm compelled to just return the book. Today it was Andy Weir (Artemis), and last time it was Hugh Howey (Wool). Fuck!

To some degree I do get it. People would dismiss useful technologies as something that would never have any value or utility all the time. But AI doesn’t have that. It doesn’t have a Toy Story or Jurassic Park to its name and for all of its much ballyhooed utility, it’s mainly been a cheap novelty.
one thing i find funny about gen AI is the specific anxiety so many supporters have about "getting left behind" - oftentimes i found it's people who didn't really understand or engage with newer media, so are trying to catch up to that by the means of this easy consumer-facing thing they have now.

we need a hard reboot. something is broken
it’s weird to not be tuned into the olympics or online a lot right now and just keep hearing whispers of “he injected stuff into his dick so he could fly farther”

Some Ancient Greek pieces from Paris's Musée de l'Armée, drawn 2017, I think. Was amazed at how thin the bronze was on the helmet and cuirass; the materials used to make costume versions for films and such tend to be thicker and thus to suggest a bulkiness and weight not present in the originals

I'm so fucking tired of us who are standing up, fighting, yelling at the top of our lungs being minimized because the media is controlled by the government. We are here.
Nobody is shrugging. We are literally in the streets protesting every day.

Stop this “American citizens do not care” narrative. It is not true and it does not help.
I’m not sure we’ve properly addressed how profoundly disturbing it is that America can largely shrug at the stashing of human beings in giant warehouses.

Yup.

Artists have been working for decades for less than we are worth because we want everyone to have access to art even those who cannot afford it.

These accusations of gatekeeping because we are against ai art theft are tone deaf.
It's still exploitation, but it seems to me that you can get incredibly cheap artwork on Fiverr.

Fuck it. Name it all after the pedophiles. Let’s remember who built this country and how much work we must keep doing to destroy the patriarchy.
