My friends call me Kate (pronouns: She/Her), and I'm a lifelong Trekkie and Star Wars fan. I enjoy movies, TV, and comic books, and I also write fanfiction. I'd be posting more fandom stuff if the world wasn't going to heck.

Congratulations to Alysa Liu for winning Olympic gold and becoming the first U.S. women’s figure skating champion since 2002!

Finally saw Alysa’s whole routine. That might have been the smoothest, most relaxed, confident, carefree skate I’ve ever seen. What a joyful way to make it to gold. 😭♥️🦅🇺🇸

Watched Alysa Liu and just imagine how much beautiful art we’d see if we took the pressure off of talented people

one reason this is so compelling is that Alysa Liu is so unapologetically herself in the era of the tradwife and the Mar-A-Lago face. Gorgeous and joyous and talented and brilliant and bucking the status quo

Not enough being said how delighted unhinged it was for Alysa Liu to skate to MacArthur Park, one of history’s strangest songs

And who doesn't love Jimmy Webb? I saw a video of a guy ranking the worst pop songs ever and McArthur Park was on that list. My opinion is that it's a great song, a one-of-its-kind epic, and since Alysa Liu is skating to it almost 60 years after its composition, History agrees with that opinion.
This is showing my age, but I loved watching Alysa Liu skate to a version of Donna Summer's MacArthur Park suite because who doesn't love Donna Summer?! So much joy in that!

OTD, Star Trek: The Next Generation's "Yesterday's Enterprise," which brought back Tasha Yar in a story that also gave us our first female captain of the Enterprise, Rachel Garrett.

'I HATED this episode/character/theme/thingy'

My sibling in Christ, no, hate is a silly word to attach to something that isn't actively harming anyone or anything.

This is the effect of the click-bait rage reactors.

I HATED THIS STAR TREK EPISODE NOW BUY MY MERCH

I really wish people would understand that Star Trek shows aren’t obligated to emulate TNG, new Star Trek shows should be allowed to blaze their own trail and even encouraged to.

Nostalgia is only going to hold Trek back.
Something that comes up a lot in reviews of Starfleet Academy is that it doesn't feel like The Next Generation.

Now my feelings are pretty clear on the matter, but what do you think? *should* a different Star Trek show try to feel like a previous one?

Or should it try to be something different?

Star Trek is a universe that encourages strong feelings, both in character and fandom.

Klingons are passionate beyond almost any compare - and now JayDen brings a new depiction of that as Trek's first out gay Klingon.

My little queer Trekkie heart is full :)

Pride to you...and your hoooouse!

The American president is more insulated from accountability than a British royal.

Our political system provides the elite with immunity. It has to change.

Prince Andrew has been fully thrown under the bus (don't think for a moment the monarchy didn't know what he was doing the entire time he was doing it) meanwhile our pedophile president is about to start another war to give the press that ball to chase and they will do it.
