My friends call me Kate (pronouns: She/Her), and I'm a lifelong Trekkie and Star Wars fan. I enjoy movies, TV, and comic books, and I also write fanfiction. I'd be posting more fandom stuff if the world wasn't going to heck.

Since I introduced this pin in the fall of 2021 I've sent out more than 1800 of them, including a few to folks involved in the making of Star Trek. 139 of those have been in the week and a half since I posted this. Thank you so, so much! I hope they help you find your people.
I'm trying to sell more of these pins than they sell tickets for the Melania movie. I think I can do it. Want to help?

thanks SO much to @averykaplan.bsky.social for exploding my heart 🥹

“Kudos to Susan and Tilly, who completely nailed this miniseries. I am hopeful that this excellent writing team will … get more work in the IDW Star Trek universe … I would welcome any further VOY stories from their imaginations.”

Monster Times 1, no. 26 (September 1973), 15.

At the recent ST-Equicon speculation ran the full spectrum from delighted anticipation to utter dread. A few Trekkies are so utterly horrified by the prospect of the animated series that they are already readying petitions to protest its very existence.

Yeah, it's a fundamentally conservative ideology. Klingons are just "like that" and can never change. Culture and genetics are destiny. There is some pure version of being a "true Klingon" to them, that having a gay Klingon is a degradation of because he's not a warrior. It's so fascist coded.
The cinemasins shit is so bad too because half the "sins" are so incredibly easy to hand wave away with the show being set so far into the future. "In TNG its clearly stated that in Klingon culture..." it's CENTURIES later my dudes.

Great art often says "Yeah, life's hard. But we'll get through this all together." That was ultimately Bad Bunny's message - which is why it resonates so widely. Bad art often says "The world just doesn't understand me, so fuck them." And that's the heart of Conservative media.

One guy at the TPUSA Halftime show sang a song about how he just wants to be able to do every day things like feed his dog, drink, and drive, but he can't, because he has to explain to his daughter that Trans people exist. The whole song sounds like an angry divorced dad, not someone of depth.

Oh! I know this one!

As the saying goes “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.” But what disturbs Conservatives is people different from them and what comforts them is being told they are right. Good art can never say "These people are just better; everyone else is wrong."
