From the vehicle to the license plate to the location, you couldn't conjure up a finer “guy parked in crosswalk” than what we have here.

I said this recently, but cities should fight to get magazines the way they do sports teams, and for the same reason: to put themselves on the nation's psychic map.
Oh man this is a gut punch. I know I'm biased but city magazines are the lifeblood of local journalism, a glossy monthly chronicle of the good and the bad, the present and the future of your city. I'll miss Charlotte Mag.

This is an exceptional profile and there's a section—you'll know it when you see it—that was one of the most difficult I've ever had to navigate as an editor.
Phila and Rachel Lorn's Trick to Success? Desperation
In 2022, Phila Lorn was making hoagies. Rachel Lorn was a banquet director. Now, three years later, the Mawn chef is a James Beard Award winner, and they’re sitting atop a growing food empire.

Incredibly classy move from a WIRED reporter who’s just been fired (for what seems like protected union activity) – completely commendable way to look out for your colleagues and their work.
Feels like the kind of person any newsroom would be lucky to have, tbh.

As my general two cents: don't cancel your WIRED subscriptions.
Best culture, best newsroom of anywhere I've worked. I love the living shit out of these folks, and they don't deserve to be negatively impacted by a decision that was made by the parent company, not them. And it's only $2 a month.

When I was a 22-year-old cub reporter (2007) I tried to do a story about DC-area guys named Bin Laden and it didn’t work for obvious (22-year-old reporter) reasons but I’ll be damned if the Times of London didn’t inadvertently pull it off
