By the way, the blood-pact you signed upon becoming a creative states that you don't need to create every day. The council of creative demons allow breaks. You're fine. You're not falling behind. You're no lesser a creative for needing rest. Shit happens sometimes, bro. You're doing great.

Mass market games are more likely to be sold in "normal" stores instead of hobby stores/direct sales. Also less likely to have the designer credited (or framed as "a game by" x), more likely for games to be "owned" by the publisher.
It's a little like trying to separate a movie from an "art movie".

Is there a generally understood definition of hobby board games vs. Mass Market board games? 🎲✂️
It feels wrong to me to just chalk it up to the number sold, but I'm not sure why that is.

In this game, a character is...
...A person with needs and desires that'll inevitably bring them into conflict with others, because there ultimately isn't enough to go around, who's capable and prepared to fight for what they need.

I have been trying to avoid this conclusion, as angry as this all makes me, but it's fucking undeniable at this point that in Esther Ghey's view the real tragedy of Brianna's life is that she was trans at all, which made her a target. Her advocacy smacks of railing against "social contagion".

Two things need to happen simultaneously:
1) A rapid mobilization and expansion of mutual aid networks to protect, feed, and care for each other
2) A tireless effort to elect progressive politicians looking to oust these fascists and their spineless enablers

It was harder getting endorsements for Zohran Mamdani from Democrats than them caving to Republicans to mutually strip us of healthcare

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

If you’ve historically been a “vote blue no matter who” type, it’d be cool if you could use this moment to understand why vilifying leftists who actually do think it matters is basically a psyop you accidentally fell for. This is why people warn you about guys like Newsom.

Of all my great regrets, getting talked out of casting 1001 Imps to smite an upstart rogue magic user in a church certainly sits near the top.
There are no problems 1001 Imps cannot solve. If you think they can't do it, my only suggestion is another 1001 Imps.

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

I stopped giving advice how to get into games narrative a while ago because nothing I did is particularly relevant now beyond "make your own games to learn" which is always true whether or it gets you an industry position.
Sometimes, creators are reluctant to share career advice because they know how much of it can't be replicated. Authors can teach you how to write, artists can teach you how to draw, but no one can teach you how to force a publisher to sign you.

I think that the nazi takeover of twitter had a much bigger knock-on effect for all other forms of social media than anyone is willing to admit, even the platforms that were supposed to be trans/queer/POC havens, and that we haven't yet seen the full ripple effect of the villain-moderated internet

Clausewitz was deeply emotionally affected by witnessing famine in the Rhineland, describing skeletal figures scrounging for underripe potatoes that were no doubt already ruined by the blight. It is a crowning achievement of our society to have solved this problem that plagued countless generations.
it drives me actually insane to have people romanticizing subsistence agriculture as if that's not just playing russian roulette with your family's lives year by year, and that every single one of their ancestors would throttle them for suggesting giving up their email jobs

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.
Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."
Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
