in the midst of your year end review filled feeds, can i present to you the funniest thing that happened in mainstream titterpigs this year: the choice for Critical Role's next campaign to be 5e instead of their in-house game Daggerheart.

kids can't agree and won't compromise so the person sitting in the boot today is me. this would have perks of being Left The Chuff Alone except i now have to act as quartermaster for the entire vehicle.

please get this actual human made short film back to the top of the rankings, because it deserves to win, but also because fuck so-called genAI.
We were in first place in this film award voting.

A film made purely with AI just netted over 150 votes in 12 hours.

Now it's personal.

Please. Help us kick this THING's ass fair and square. ART FOR ARTISTS.

Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast
Fall of Magic
Apawthecaria
Apothecaria
Mausritter
Ryuutama
Pathfinder 2e
Cairn 2e

it says more about my accent and my gutter-brain, but i didn't know what they called motorways in the USA until a long time after i heard "Driving Home for Christmas" for the first time, and it had me wondering why Chris Rea was singing about a festive three-way.

of all the Christmas specials this year, the one for Adolescence was the one i expected the least.

i'm not convinced by the argument that using the aesthetic of K-pop, a very artificial and outward-looking cultural genre, as part of a ttrpg supplement produced outside of South Korea, is cultural appropriation. it might be a bad idea for other reasons, but it's not even in a top ten of shit ideas.
December 22, 2025 at 10:56 PM
alright jfc all i have seen on ttrpg bsky today is fucking discourse, the colour, temperature, and fragrance of cold sick. JUST FUCKING STOP. it's mfing December, peace on earth and all that shit. CHILL THE BEANS. if you see some eejit trying to stoke the rage machine, IGNORE IT. I BELIEVE IN YOU.
December 22, 2025 at 8:16 PM
oh my gods one of the eternal and most incredibly stupid arguments in the world of TTRPGs is back, gird your loins folks

after his famous Christmas song, Jona Lewie became a very militant animal rights activist. one of his most successful campaigns was objecting to the construction of a Sunday lunch "super-restaurant" in his home town. it took many years, but he was finally able to stop the carvery.

at my most charitable, i would guess that the reason for this is that most if not all of the games /of any format/ that these people have been exposed to have been violent or highly competitive, and consequently they cannot conceive of a game that does not meet one of these two categories.
I think the weirdest part to me is why would someone make a game based on Studio Ghibli vibes for "gotta kill something" as a game pillar?!?!

Contrast this to "I made an RPG based on grindhouse movie aesthetics" "I made Die Hard with the serial numbers scraped off" etc.
This belief that "you need something to kill" in rpgs is just so bizarre to me, but it's everywhere.

I even got this when developing my medical drama game: "How are you supposed to run combat in this?"

Combat... in a game about the messy lives of medical professionals.

Not fights... COMBAT. WHY?!

paper scissors stone roll and write version:

each of you have a scoreboard which is a three-way Venn diagram. each of the big circles is marked with one of paper, scissors, or stone.

when you win, you can put a token in one area of the circle corresponding to your winning choice.

if you've got spaceships that can do devastating orbital barrages that annihilate enemy combatants in a given location, why bother sending troops to the surface at all?

life's feeling bleak, y'all, so please reply here with something from anytime in the last twenty years which has widely been celebrated as a good, positive thing for humanity.

optimistic that this takes another ten years.
The year is 2035. There are three game studios left. Each one produces a game every 10 years, killing 250+ developers in the process. They all accidentally make the same game because they used genAI in preproduction. They sell 500 million units each, missing quarterly targets. Everyone is laid off.
