Imagine buying a magazine today? Honestly you’d feel like A BOSS

So, with that in mind i want to give a Saturday shout out to @raremags.bsky.social who not only have our latest issue but also a bewilderingly good selection of other stuff, so let’s have a look & see what I want to read…

Wyrd Science – Rare Mags
One of those magazines that does exactly what it sets out to do, no messing around, cramming every page full of what they want in the magazine and nothing else. Tabletop gaming, but now with added fil...

Launch!

GRAVITY is a one-shot-focused RPG about powerful people stuck in an increasingly bad situation. To maintain suspense, the game uses a rotating-GM system (stolen from Lovecraftesque and my previous game, Bleak Spirit) to ensure that nobody knows what the Threat is until the climax.

Checking for page xx and other temporary text as part of the proofing on The Words We Leave Behind while I'm waiting for a flight. Having a good sized tablet makes the process so much easier.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

So James Watson has died. As many have pointed out he was an arrogant, sexist and racist arsehole whose big discovery was based on Rosalind Franklin's data. He's the prime example that we shouldn't idolise people off of a single success, he was, at best, a good scientist (and shitty person)

Visited the caves at Nerja and it's damn impressive to think that people once lived in them with only fire and torchlight. They really made me think about how disconcerting exploration in fantasy RPGs would actually be.

it hasn't helped sell any mags but it appears our nonsense on here has just pushed our account over 5K 'followers', so let's embrace that as some kind of achievement!

Like & repost this to be in with a chance to win every in-print issue of Wyrd Science & a t-shirt of your choice*

In the middle of a week long holiday and I'm realising just how burnt out I was. I took some editing to work on and I've not only picked up on a load of changes I need to make but have been enjoying just digging into the text again.

Hate doing this, because everyone is skint, but Oz is the only important thing in my life and I'm too broke to cover his additional surgery. If you'd like to help, please use OZVET20 at checkout on fenrisgames.com/shop for a nice discount or ko-fi.com/fenrisgames if you don't need toys.
Thankyou 💔

I feel sorry for the people having to clean Liverpool up today. Went through at 5 on the way to the airport and it was carnage from Halloween.

We will never tire of seeing copies of the mag in people’s hands so do please keep (or perhaps start) buying them!

We run this boondoggle on a shoestring so every sale really does matter & allows us to make more of them, more frequently & with more amazing art & great writing

What are your duet #TTRPG recommendations? I've done Cthulhu Confidential, NBA Solo Ops, PageTurners, and have HUNT(er/ed) lined up, but what else works well with just 2 players?

Just sent out a preview of The Words We Leave Behind to backers and it feels good to finally have it out there. Next up, fulfilment and Dragonmeet.

I'm happy that people are enjoying the giant Mothership pbp game but I've had to mute the tag before it took over my timeline and I ended up going down the rabbit hole of trying to make sense of the posts. I don't have time for the game, let alone following along from the sidelines

Question for those who have done streaming / podcasting: I'm looking for a wireless lapel mic that I can wear while delivering lectures.

Any recommendations?

I don't want to spend too much but also want to avoid the super cheap rubbish that's been filling my search results.

Working from home today and having to resist the temptation to do some layout in the background between tasks. Thankfully I've made solid progress over the last few evenings so I think I can have the preview finished this weekend.

Signs it's been a long time since I did any layout: I spent 10 minutes trying to work out why I couldn't get text to wrap around an image the way I wanted before I remembered it had a large white background and was positioned on the layer above the text.
