Ever since I started to discover the OSR through Mausritter, I've been thinking about why mice were such an effective way to introduce me tot the play style. The Prismatic Wasteland just made my life a little easier by settling the matter in this neat little blog. Worth the read!

Ever since I started to discover the OSR through Mausritter, I've been thinking about why mice were such an effective way to introduce me tot the play style. The Prismatic Wasteland just made my life a little easier by settling the matter in this neat little blog. Worth the read!
Y'all, the things I'm penning in my notes to improve on this ashcan are making me very nervous and very excited.
Have I talked about Family Meal yet? @napel.itch.io 's rpg about running the front and back half of a restaurant? Felt real good to go back to that sort of space and not have to deal with real drama but instead pretend drama with my friends.

I find it kind of beautiful that we're seeing the next iteration of Apocalypse World's DIY art. Two of the biggest names in indie roleplaying games show, once again, that it's not about spectacle or expense. It's about using the skills you have and the skills you can develop to make it how you can.

In plenty of cases what y'all are trying to convey is that you think this art is uninteresting or that game is ineffective. Trying to support those positions will make your thoughts all the more informative (but also: it will quickly show you if you have arguments at all, or that they're feelings).
i wish people would be substantially more careful with their choice to dismiss art/games they don't like as "not art / not a game"

pointing at a game and saying "this is not a game" means you're saying it shouldnt be thought of as a game, it shouldnt be compared to other games, and it shouldnt be respected like a game. it's a tool of dismissal and erasure

This looks like a blog I've yet to read about the merits of Mausritter. Since mice are so small, the maps for the game can be incredibly concrete, which allows them to convey more detail in a loose manner. How does that influence play? Or: does the eventual keying of the map deflate these merits?

oh also btw calling a game "game-adjacent" or a "game-like object" is absolutely calling them not-games (a good litmus test is to imagine you made food for a friend and then imagine how youd feel if they called your cooking "a food-like object")
