Great list of posts as usual from the Bloggies.
The Bloggies Nominees are here!

We are 1 week away from voting, so I need everyone's help spreading the word. Congrats to all the nominees and blogs submitted—this last year was incredible. Forming the lists was equal parts rewarding and painful.

A while back there was a conversation floating around rpgs about where's the new innovation in games, like where's the new pbta. I've decided it's "Apollo 47-core": 1 page of rules + 100 pages of modular lore (see: Mythic Bastionland, Wanderhome, even Under Hollow Hills).

About once a year, including right now, I find myself with a friend who's eager to try D&D for the first time. While sometimes I say "okay" and then run For The Queen for them or whatever, sometimes I want to actually run something in the genre of "the D&D movie." Specifically:

I think rpg actual play / play reports reaches such a high with these Afterimage episodes

I love to see more creative non-fiction in the space like this!
Dice Exploder is back this week with a new episode of Afterimage all about ERPL, The Experimental Role-Playing Laboratory, a mini-con that took place at my college several times a year.

I still think about the people I met there. They still mean something to me. What might I still mean to them?
Afterimage #3: The Experimental Role-Playing Laboratory — Dice Exploder
The Experimental Role-Playing Laboratory, or ERPL, was a thrice a year mini convention put on by students at my college back in the 00s and 10s and onward to this day. It's how I got into indie games....

Sam has been experimenting with a form of RPG play-adjacent podcasting that focuses on the *emotional experience* of play, rather than the beat-by-beat radioplay format common in APs. He has succeeded triumphantly. I’m in this one!
