I find it kind of beautiful that we're seeing the next iteration of Apocalypse World's DIY art. Two of the biggest names in indie roleplaying games show, once again, that it's not about spectacle or expense. It's about using the skills you have and the skills you can develop to make it how you can.

VOID 1680 AM was the game the changed the face of Tales Yet Told and helped us understand just what kind of stories we wanted to tell. An amazing game about community, self-reflection, and sick tunes.

Hey, that's me! Come listen to me and more importantly, Sam!
Wrapping up the Dice Exploder series on actual play with a game where, to me, actual play functions almost as a game mechanic: @kenlowery.bsky.social talks Void 1680 AM community broadcasts, and how even just the idea of putting your solo gameplay in front of an audience changes how it feels to play
Actual Play: Void 1680 AM Community Broadcasts (with Ken Lowery) — Dice Exploder
To close out this miniseries on actual play, I wanted to feature a game that I think uses actual play as a game mechanic. Hear me out. Void 1680 AM is a solo playlist-building game in which you create...

Actual Play: 4AM at a Diner (Last Train to Brooklyn) with Linnie Schell — Dice Exploder
Last Train to Brooklyn is an actual play from Twice Rolled Tales where they play Last Train to Bremen on a New York City subway car. It's also probably my favorite actual play full stop. Why? I think…

This thread is genius. I didn't think anyone could actually capture what #over/under feels like.
But it *does* feel like a reworking of cyberpunk for the 2020s: a vision of the future not as a unified aesthetic but as this crazed sensory overload, a hundred different stories and worlds fired at you at once, leaping between crassness and warmth, insincerity and sincerity.

What's the over/under on the #OVER/UNDER "I run TTRPGs" vs "I just play in them" ratio? Literally 56:0.

Took a break from Over/Under to play Apocalypse World in the meatspace and I simply must tell you that my character is a 15 year old Volatile boy named Godammit which I think tells you all you need to know about him.

New Dice Exploder today - it's a good one on communication at the table by way of going slow motion through an intense interaction. Plus: Maia is super smart.
I was on Dice Exploder! We dissect an intense scene from my AP podcast where an NPC leverages a character for sex. We go beat-by-beat on how to handle safety, boundaries, and communication at the TTRPG table.

I've felt so much more self-conscious roleplaying in #OVER/UNDER than I do after 20 years of playing games with friends and strangers online and in person, and I think because it feels so much like roleplaying in public. 1600 people! Or even just 100! How am I supposed to live up to that?
