i got very unlucky with my luck, because my big break happened before i had the chance to make many friends in the ttrpg space. suddenly i had people i thought were friends sniping at me behind my back, and other people who had never given me the time of day before, suddenly sucking up to me

I have been trying to avoid this conclusion, as angry as this all makes me, but it's fucking undeniable at this point that in Esther Ghey's view the real tragedy of Brianna's life is that she was trans at all, which made her a target. Her advocacy smacks of railing against "social contagion".

i think considering the variety of well-designed games he's made i'm willing to read his posts with some slack lmao

i cant read ross's mind but i am willing to bet he saw someone make some nutjob claim about how pbta is morally better because the 2D6 reflects a proletarian virtue or something like that and decided to vaguepost it

people do bicker in board games about whether stuff like trick taking or worker placement is inherently better than other random mechanics, the same way artists bicker about if painting is fundamentally better than sculpture or poetry or whatever

my understanding of ross's post is that 2D6 vs 1D12 do different things and a skilled designer knows how to use each to make specific statements, not that they dont matter

i mean i think ross is talking about what is *inherently* better, i.e there are people who argue that dice pools are inescapably better than roll over or roll under or that dice are fundamentally better than tokens and so on
