Well.
"For much of the 2010s and likely before and since, it appears the crime rate of CBP agents and offices was higher PER CAPITA than the crime rate of undocumented immigrants in the United States."

Accountability for ICE and CBP
However bad you think the corruption and misconduct at ICE and CBP is — the reality is far far worse.

Bodycams are useful at trial.

But the crime has already been committed at that point.

Someone's dead. Or injured. Or degraded, stalked, abused, raped, assaulted, tortured.

And you can't take that back.

This is not a solution to the unchecked inhumanity of ICE. #AbolishICE #FuckICE

Predicting that this week we’ll hear more conciliatory words from the Administration regarding Minnesota (since they’re starting to realize that ICE has become politically toxic) but everyone outside of Minnesota needs to know that nothing on the ground has changed.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said the city has only had three homicides so far this year. “Two of them were ICE," he added.

“The relief we are asking for is stopping this Operation Metro Surge” immediately, he said.

Whoa.
I have been assuming there was some serious discontent at Target right now, so I'm really only surprised it took this long to come out.

A reminder that @bradtabke.bsky.social won his seat by 14 votes and it took Melissa Hortman 6 weeks of a DFL boycott to get him seated in the Minnesota House. He's been leading efforts in Shopee since ICE targeted his community. F'ing hero, putting it all on the line.

Worth noting that among those participating in ICE/DHS watch in Minneapolis today — who Emmer appears to frame as “chaos agents” here — are literally hundreds of clergy.

The House is voting today on legislation that will permanently damage the Boundary Waters.

This bill would clear the way for a massive sulfide-ore copper mining operation, causing irreversible harm.

I will be voting NO. Our beautiful Boundary Waters shouldn’t be for sale.

This, yes. While the overwhelming narrative has been rugged individualism we also have a history of collective care and community action. Think blocking farm and urban evictions during the Depression, the rise of unions, barn raisings, other examples going back at least as far as the Boston Common.
I keep thinking about the toxic, pervasive mythology of "rugged individualism" as a driving force in American culture, and how the collective efforts in the Twin Cities right now are proof that the only way through hard times is together, as a community.
