It's gallows humor, but it is funny watching a landlord angrily and futiley try to understand why there are a bunch of vacant storefronts in an area with notoriously high rent

A St Louis Fed paper analyzed the Silicon Valley Bank bailout and analyzed the assets and found it would have been better to let it fail because 90% of the assets were crypto and VC bets and would have had little to no effect on the broader economy.
“It’s not that I’m for austerity, it’s just that I’m against bailing out AI, crypto, private assets/university endowments, and I’m fine with canceled Thanksgiving flights and missed paychecks as long as Republicans take the blame for it.”

This is either a recession indicator, or just a revelation because I haven't been out on Halloween since Covid, but an alarming number of adult Halloween costumes are just "clothes I wouldn't normally wear".

Important lesson learned today: even if you like Sparks, the odds of your coworkers liking Sparks are slim, and they're not going to take that ten second sliver of music you're using to soundtest a speaker input seriously at all.
