This is 1) an entirely hypothetical threat at the moment; 2) will not be much alleviated by anonymity in an open channel; 3) concealing your identity makes this kind of charge harder to beat; and 4) this is principally relevant for small groups of organizers who can be "taken out of the fight"
Murdering people with death squads has proven to generate bad PR. Wide ranging conspiracy indictments can take down protest leaders, which they very much want to do. Or at least take them out of the fight for years and they beat their cases, at terrific financial and mental costs.

I really wish NYC would’ve banned gas hookups before my building was built. I’m paying an extra $600ish a year for the privilege of using a crappy stove and a (maybe?) faster dryer (space heating is already a heat pump). It’s almost entirely in delivery charges, not the actual gas.

These are basic ground floor facts and it’s precisely why we’re now approaching month 2 of pushing against all of the security & trust theater that had, until the tail end of January, defined the first ~7 months of community anti-ICE organizing here. By no mistake, we suddenly tripled group sizes.
No offense but if anything MN puts the lie to the idea that popular resistance takes a bunch of time and preparation by established activists who are allegedly quietly building goodwill. Mostly I see those people upset that it's succeeding and trying to gatekeep the normal people out of it

I think this does get at the heart of it, that what's being advocated for isn't so much the achievement of material goals but the creation of revolution flavored content, kind of a stupid counter to the admins goal of creating ethnic cleansing flavored content

Anytime someone makes this point they get a zillion posts saying that their particular station in life makes this bad advice. But the fact is that of the people who have been most severely punished for protesting, we are able to defend Mahmoud Khalil, Öztürk, etc because we know who they are!
Is it a good idea to go to a protest wearing a surgical mask and sunglasses, looking like a lunatic, or not? That's what this is about. I think that's a bad idea and would think that if Stancil never existed. It did the pro-Palestine protestors no favors
