put another way: why was TMI closed in the first place if it could outcompete gas?

i'd like to think that holds true here but NY and NJ already approved subsidy programs for nuclear under threat of closure, on top of RGGI.
critical infrastructure shouldn't be held hostage - and Beaver Valley was bought by a different operator since the closure threat- but were those bluffs?

Good thing there are absolutely no dark clouds on that horizon

gov. Murphy's failure to keep Oyster Creek open is more and more looking like a catastrophic decision. Thankfully NJ voters do not yet blame Democrats for high electricity costs but the next election could well be a political and environmental disaster if things continue as they are

this actually cuts both ways because every driver in both states is eligible for the toll discount in question, and there are a significant number of NJ-LI commuters via SI

I think an SI toll discount is actually reasonable, contingent on actually improving transit options (imposed by force). However the policy of a minimum 3 trips a month is totally stupid because it encourages car commuting rather than occasional trips

unless you believe the Astead Herndon theory that voters who were so profoundly ignorant they didn't even know Biden dropped out until election day were still acutely aware of and angry at Kamala's aborted 2020 campaign that got ~0 votes being the most intensely woke one ever
