Since this blew up, I should add that the most memorable part of out chat was her telling me of a recent photography contest where AI photos were banned from competition. After many elimination rounds, a winner was chosen. The winner announces on stage that he tricked everyone & his photo was AI.
Met a 40yo gallery-ist at a party in SF. We spent most of the party talking abt the art world, but mostly what she talked abt was how most of her life now is telling AI “artists” that they are not artists, she won’t sell their “work” in her gallery, & that “prompt writer” isn’t an artistic medium.

At the Emeryville Amtrak station to head to Portland and the train is already pulling away from the station as I approach it with my bags. Knowing a lost cause as I watch it speed away, I dejectedly head back to station, only to find the train had stopped for me!😎

I am in the Bay presently, & riding my board around here w/ the waymo cars is a challenge for me & the bicyclists around me, but even more so the passengers in the Waymo! The cars are better at yeidlig than peeps, but they are too good at it & sometimes wait too long.

also, i think waymo's safety has to be extremely heavily caveated (and, to be fair, i think waymo does okay at this) - it's very difficult to see how they could ever operate in portland, for example, so while it's an interesting and novel technology, it's not even close to universally applicable

In my aborted documentary, all of the Trumpers that I interview on film are convinced that undocumented people get $2500/ mnth from the government plus free apartments, phones, and private school vouchers for their kids. They can not be unconvinced on this, no matter the evidence.
one argument thats always struck me as funny is the one about people coming to america to drain the budget of our many social services. such as free university, free healthcare, UBI, etc. you know, all those things we dont have
