Yeah Chicago being so large and spread out helped us weather the storm a little. Minneapolis is not that. 57 square miles is like a quarter of the size of Chicago, proper - not even including the suburbs.
It's 10am in Minneapolis and rapid response is underwater, reports of chemicals deployed already.

As others have pointed out, the ratio of feds (with more arriving) to residents and square mileage here is extreme compared to what we experienced in Chicago.

We are in freefall.

What was that phrase again? "They aren't bringing their best"?
A few months ago, ICE hired me

I didn't sign and submit any paperwork. I almost certainly failed the drug test. I'm real outspoken about my opposition to the Trump administration, and I am extremely googlable

And yet, there it was, in plain English. "Welcome to ICE!"

You’ve Heard About Who ICE Is Recruiting. The Truth Is Far Worse. I’m the Proof.
What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.

Literally mine as well. And actually what I tend to do doing PM shifts at the hospital. I just got back from a 2-10:30, got home about 1115. Took a shower, and I'm in bed about to go to sleep in a bit. I'll wake up at nine when my wife leaves for work and then I have a few hours to get ready.
insofar as anyone has a “natural” sleep schedule, mine is like, 1:00-1:30 to 9, which is a pretty healthy 7-8 hours and completely incompatible with almost every job i have ever had

I don’t think they’re misreading them so much as they are terrified of the implications because it means the status quo has to break. there’s no incrementalism for this. mass radicalization of this scale scares Democrats more than anything Republicans could do and I mean that literally.
Kind of feel like a lot of politicians, even in Minnesota, are misreading the implications of this moment. I feel like the past three days have been tremendously radicalizing for so many people. I have witnessed it even in my own small communities, it goes beyond just incandescent rage.

A clear bias against the west and northeast but otherwise not bad. We're older and used to often stay with friends that are scattered across the country. But midwesters drive everywhere so easy to knock those off. Heck, we're driving and staying in Madison next weekend.

They don't have capacity to terrorize more than 2-3 cities at a time.

Which means they rotate teams to new cities without relief.

Which means consistent resistance by fresh activists in each new city will break them over time.

Which means if you're city's not occupied, rest up and get ready.

I often muse that my job at a children's hospital (during a pandemic even) has uniquely prepared me for compartmenalizing constant daily horrors from my day to day life so that I often just go live my life and I also often wonder if that's really a good or healthy thing or not.
