This is a fascist authoritarian regime, but they didn't have to borrow this tactic from Putin. Look up how authorities talked about the Civil Rights Movement. Or talk to anyone in the US who has been characterized as a professional activist or outside agitator when they successfully made waves ever.
Putin pioneered this. No opposition is legitimate. Regular, decent, “ordinary” people cannot possibly be against us because only we represent “the real people.”
