Was maintaining source confidentiality an issue with Jayson Blair? Did they go back through Jayson Blair’s emails when they were investigating him for plagiarism and fabrication? What role did the elimination of the public editor position play in differentiating the institutional responses here?
I've written the same thread several times about this. Newsrooms are not like corporate workplaces and they don't go back and audit reporter emails the way you're thinking they should because compromising source confidentiality is not an issue in corporate scenarios.
