Goddamn people the washington post did not shoot itself in the foot, the layoffs are not about business, profits, trust in the institution. It’s all about Bezos and his friends. That is it!

Please don't report this as a straightforward business story; it's a story about coercive social transformation being imposed by people so rich they've ceased to see the rest of us as legitimate stakeholders in our own lives

Bezos isn't destroying the Washington Post because it isn't profitable. He's destroying the Washington Post because he's calculated that a robust free press threatens the ability of his class to warp society around their interests

Abolish billionaires. Tax the shit out of them. Seize their assets. They're not interested in jobs, thriving communities or public health.

Put it into education, health care, and small community businesses and retrofitting homes, schools, and offices with solar. Quality of life would soar.

If *I* were a billionaire trying to complete *my* global fascist takeover, I would make sure most of the nation stayed employed. Employed people are less likely to make trouble for me, a billionaire.

Yes, they very recently saw the elite opinion on policing shored up with a shoplifting panic, why would they think a similar process wouldn’t happen with ICE?
Their response to Black people begging police to stop killing us was to fund the police at historic levels. People still act like they're just "following the polls", but they're doing the same thing to protect ICE despite Democratic voters being firmly against ICE.

Who among Democrats actually supports Chuck Schumer as leader?

I don't know anybody who supports him. He's how we got here. How do we get rid of his leadership? Why is he so safe despite his obvious failures and fading abilities?

Imagine real leadership—actual opposition.

A cool celebration would be to stop tisch from having the NYPD target cyclists.
In a few short months, @DianaforQueens built an incredible coalition and ran a movement campaign that earned nearly 75% of the vote last night.

I'm grateful that she will serve out my term in the Assembly, and hopefully many to come. Astoria is in good hands.

I find this framing, much the same with CBS news, so interesting bc it is incredulous to the fact that the billionaire owner is deliberately ruining the institution for personal and ideological gain.
honestly can't keep track of all the brilliant, invaluable writers the Washington Post has let go this morning, but I cannot recall in my lifetime a once-great publication so purposefully shooting itself in the face

Pretty wild that gov Shapiro would be offended by this apt analogy and call to action.
Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

Exactly this and the thing is our Democrats were all to happy to see this happen bc the labor power threatened their power as well.
I've never been a conspiracy theory guy, but you're never gonna convince me that there hasn't been a specific cabal of ultra-rich dullards trying to buy, strangle, and bring to heel all of the most important reality-shaping machines since the uptick in power labor had during COVID
WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Post says one-third of its staff across all departments, not just the newsroom, is being laid off.

I hope we all understand that the extraction class is building a state media akin to what we've seen in Orban's Hungary and Putin's Russia, and it is not at all subtle.

What's left of the independent press needs to start framing this properly.

The hard way.

JEFFRIES:
I was not prepared for that.
Donald Trump must fire Kristi Noem immediately.

Or Democrats will initiate impeachment proceedings against her in the House.
