The dream of every Muslim is simply to be treated the same as any other New Yorker.

And yet, for too long, we have been told to ask for less than that, and endure hatred and bigotry in the shadows.

No more.

overwhelmingly, the thing that motivates a young person to become a movement conservative is racism, specifically anti black racism. the conservative movement does care about other things, but racial animus has been the primary motivating factor for entry into the movement for decades.

Someone else said it first, but the reason other countries have VAT is that the right like that it screws over the poor and the left likes that it raises a ton of revenue, while the US lacks one because the right hates that it raises a ton of revenue and the left hates that it screws over the poor.

🚨NEW: When ICE raided a Californian farm yesterday, they snatched & disappeared a disabled US veteran who was in his car.

They smashed his window, peppered sprayed him & dragged him to the floor.

Listen to his wife & sister here, distraught. No-one will tell them where he is.

my considered opinion is that the framers would have had most of congress, all of this white house, and most of the supreme court hanged
lots of bad things you can say about the founders but they wrote a constitution that actually handles the trump problem pretty well, but no one is doing anything about it. what good is this document? the supreme court says the only thing it can actually do is make us feel pain.

really interesting that the vice president cites as a key intellectual influence a guy who thinks black people are natural slaves
Curtis Yarvin, who has been profiled in media like Politico and The Wall Street Journal, has publicly stated in the past that he thinks black people are naturally fit to be slaves.

Extremely important context for this whole story is that "Undeserving Black people are stealing our children's enrollment slots at Harvard and Yale" is something that @nytimes.com leadership thinks is one of the two or three most important problems facing the country.

* Trump-supporting anons hack Columbia data
* Nazi twitter accounts dig around in the data
* NYT picks up on Nazi substack posts, publishes Zohran story to damage his campaign
* Chris Rufo immediately boosting the story

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

If you live in a blue metro area or a blue state more generally, the message coming out of the GOP is pretty clear: We're not trying to live with you or come to a common agreement about how to live; we're going to extract YOUR resources to pay ourselves and shape the country to our tastes.

[guy whose belly has always been full] POLITICS is about PSYCHOLOGY
I've said this before, but ALL POLITICAL BEHAVIOR IS DOWNSTREAM OF INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOLOGY. We are trapped inside our minds and what we believe, what we enjoy, what we know, necessarily supersedes any other input into our political decisions, including the "material" inputs we put so much weight on.
The tendency of left-wing thinkers to search for economic explanations for political phenomena has consistently pulled the entire left-of-center away from the obvious explanation for MAGA, which is that they find torture and domination psychologically rewarding, and are seeking that reward.

I don't think the location was a factor. Highlighting the story as a major news event would be bad for Trump and our media likes Trump and wants to help him.
Horrific political assassinations took place in America, & we’ve totally erased it from the National Conversation™️ because they happened in the Midwest instead of Manhattan & we’re not a serious country. Incredibly depressing on so many deep, pathetic levels. May their memories be a blessing.
This broke me from the first paragraph

"For Melissa Hortman’s last day at work, they draped her coffin with pink flowers and filled the cold marble under the Minnesota Capitol dome with the green and growing things that she loved."

James is right but it's also why he's not running a newsroom now. The bosses have selected people to run key positions in mainstream newsrooms that stifle negative coverage of Trump and promote negative coverage of Democrats.

No "full court press" on Trump's dementia is ever coming.
If I'm running a news room now, I assign everyone who has done piece on Biden's final-years fitness-to-govern, and have them apply same standards here.

(Once heard Bill Clinton give 45-minute ad-hoc on what diff *counties* in Arkansas had done in Civil War. Trump doesn't know WHAT YEAR it was.)
Trump: "If you look at the end of the Civil War -- the 1800s, it was a very turbulent time. If you take the end day -- was it 1869? Or whatever."
