The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

I'm crying for a few reasons tonight, but this is a good one. Greg is doing good things here. If I'm reading his matching right, a donation of $4.50 turns into $50. ($41 in per donor matches plus a 1:1 matching). If you've got a fiver in your Venmo that you can share, it can go far.

My favorite annual event!

Folks, I know it’s been a tough and terrible year. If you can spare some money for this very worth cause, please chip in. With the uncertainty around SNAP this year it’s more important than ever.

Really cant understand how badly the Dems messaged this fold. The easy out was to say "we never expected Trump would illegally starve children and when SCOTUS stepped in to illegally help him we couldn't put kids at risk."

did not know this.

it’s almost like we should keep funding NOAA.
In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

Each and every donation to the Foodraiser generates $41 in matching funds and there is another overall matcher who will match dollar for dollar for the first $75,000 raised! In other words, even a small donation goes a really long way. Scroll up in the thread below to find the donation links!
Correction: I missed someone, so we're at +$41 per donor!

bsky.app/profile/greg...
Saved it on the work laptop by mistake, no wonder I couldn't find it 🤪

So matchers! They make things exciting because no one knows where we'll end up 😂

I think I've got all the current matching offers here, basically adding +$36 for each person who donates by this Friday @ 11:59pm PST! 🔥🔥

The Foodraiser is up and running!! Greg will be adding details below, but the TL;DR of it all is that you can donate at the links below to help feed about 5100 kids in lower income schools over the Christmas break. I and others will match on a per donor basis. If you can, do and RTs are awesome.

This was not a surprise to anyone who followed me and other actual reporters who know Supreme Court procedure.

The only places it succeeded were to generate donations for Liberty Counsel and to prompt clicks through ragebait headlines from your favorite resistance grifters.

Sorry, it's true.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court DENIES former county clerk Kim Davis's request for the justices to take up her longshot bid to overturn 2015's Obergefell v. Hodges marriage equality decision. No justice even writes about the request.

My most moderate opinion on here is that there is no moral equivalence between someone who does something bad and somebody who (incompetently or not) fails to prevent them from doing that.
The ACA cuts happened in the reconciliation bill in July, every single Democrat voted against it and they got 3 detectors so Vance had to break the tie, and the Dems just shut down the government for 40 days to try and get them to undo it, it is absolutely deranged to blame this on “Democrats”
Yes - this is a loss because Democrats have now signed on to ACA cuts as a complicit party and once again made it a less effective issue for the mid terms

The Epstein Files is a powerful political attack for reasons that aren't entirely clear, but people should get used to the idea that we're not going to get a magical document that topples the regime and forces them all to flee the country.
That’s all fine. For the most part. And I agree that the Epstein Files (which have been substantially mitigated) are worth a small scale political long-term play / gain.

As long as we all realize “The Epstein Files!!” Is a gambit not an actual thing.

any bsky poaster have a theory of victory aligned with keeping the govt shutdown indefinitely I'm all ears, because again I think I've got a history that's pretty indicative I'm more than supportive of COAs that fuck me over personally if there's a viable path to an achievable end state
Okay so again, you gonna forgo your income for another 13 months?

Because you're asking me and a couple million of your fellow citizens to do that, and I don't think it's too much to ask for a plausible theory of victory aligned with that COA

And again: He'll have to swear in Grijalva, which means 218 for the Epstein files. At least that's my understanding.

I get being angry, I don't get doing PR for Trump in the process. The Dems did not kill the ACA, they did not end the subsidies. Trump in the Republican controlled House and Senate did that. Dems shut down the government in an attempt to change that and lost that fight. Those are just facts.
No, they didn't. The GOP ripped healthcare away from over 11 million people when they passed their bill without those subsidies. You can hate the Senators below for not keeping the shutdown going. Berate them, primary them, whatever. But the GOP killed the subsidies, plain and simple.
Learn these motherfuckers' names, they just betrayed every single member of the Democratic coalition and let Republicans rip healthcare away from over 11 million people.
