First they teamed up w/ Trump and ended their DEI program. Then they teamed up w/ Starbucks to to cross the coffee chain's union's picket line. Now they're teaming up w/ ChatGPT. Who will Target team up w/ next, ICE agents zip tying children in the toy aisle at their stores? So many unforced errors.

They can drum up excitement by restoring DEI and supporting their workers
Beginning Monday, a Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate drink will be available exclusively at Starbucks cafés inside Target stores.

The chains are hoping the drink can drum up excitement from customers this holiday season.

If there are mistakes in proofing, you'll most likely find them in the tables. Occasionally the sidebars. Also, you can tell I added alt text to the art late in the process, because some of them are riddled with typos.

But this proofing pass is coming along & should be done by the end of tomorrow.

Lost 30 minutes to a trending topic that encapsulates 2025 meme fare. In 2017, it was all conspiratorial whispers and super-spy claims. In 2025, it's deliberately but *hilariously* misconstruing the contents of an email thread that likely was itself a joke. Empty calories, but okay, I laughed some.

"Bury him face down." This barn burner of an obit might feel hyperbolic to people who entered the world in the wake of 9/11; it's not. Cheney was one of the architects of today's American Christian conservatism. He was directly responsible for millions of deaths. Salt the earth where he's buried.

So many people were detained extrajudicially, were tortured, or died because of Dick Cheney. You can't get to the danger we're in now without everything he did. The weapons he helped forge are ones we need to take away from U.S. presidents forever.

Richest country in the world, and we're reduced to frantically begging ordinary people for donations to keep millions of our citizens from starving to death like we're famine-ravaged Ethiopia in the 1980s.

If this weather could continue for the next four months (rather than deteriorating into the single digits or colder), I'd be okay with that. It won't, of course (I still live in Minnesota), but 50s most evenings has been absolutely wonderful for taking a walk around the neighborhood.

Well, I hate absolutely everything I've written so far today. Good thing it's only 7:30 a.m.! But still, I'm trying to assemble a jigsaw and I'm not even convinced these two corner pieces are part of the same puzzle, which is frustrating.

That’s one helluva metaphor.
“Adapting a book is like marrying a widow. You have to respect the late husband, but on Saturdays, you are allowed to get it on.”
