Broken on the run from the conspiracies quickly learn to distrust many kinds of vehicles — limousines and sedans with dark-tinted windows, police cruisers, helicopters, and a whole host of transports used by the world’s militaries — but none more fully encapsulate the dread and suspicion of escaped Deviants than a handful of black vans gathered in one place. Too often these have served as a conveyance for masked, heavily armed capture crews, fanatical, wild-eyed cultists, or dangerously obsessed Devoted and their snarling Manticore companions. Shallow Graves is a Storyteller’s guide to Deviant: The Renegades. This book contains: • Extensive advice for planning and executing a successful Deviant: The Renegades chronicle, including discussion of common narrative devices, a detailed look at the game’s mechanics, and optional and alternate rules to help Storytellers finetune its systems. • Tools for quickly creating Baseline and Devoted antagonists, foils, and allies. • Systems and narrative suggestions for incorporating the other strange inhabitants of the Chronicles of Darkness into a Deviant: The Renegades chronicle, complete with guidance for crossover play. • Six new genres for Deviants to inhabit — Cyberpunk, Dark Eras, High Fantasy, Post-Apocalypse, Space Opera, and Superhero Emergence — complete with new and modified systems for bringing the chronicles set in them to life.

Reminds me of a thing I made a little bit ago when a writer I *know* is way better than me was worrying that his creative spark was going out, which almost seemed funny (b/c amazing writer), although he was in earnest. I mostly just write & try not to worry what people think, but it's never 100%.

It’s not like anyone will ever read it.” - “Some people like my writing, but it’s not like anyone would pay to read it.” - “I got paid for something I wrote, but they probably just felt sorry for me.” - “Someone offered me money to write something, but it’s because they don’t know how bad I am, yet.” - “I got paid for an assignment, and they liked it, but it was just a freak thing, not something that will happen again.” - “I do some freelance writing, but I’m not nearly as talented as all the other writers I work with.” - “I get regular gigs, but I’m not good enough to do this full time.” - “I write full time for now, but I’ll probably have to get a real job in a few months when I stop getting paid gigs because most other writers are better at this than I am.” - “I make a semi-stable income from my writing, but other writers make more because they’re better writers.” - “I wrote a bestseller, but I just got lucky.
