There is no “better training” for an organization that does this.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

No he should resign or be removed from the position. Deleting the post doesn't change the fact that Bovino is giving a green light to murder protestors
Rep. Lieu: “Greg Bovino last night made a post that essentially called protesters, ‘cannon fodder.’ He needs to delete that post, or he needs to resign…If Greg Bovino and the administration doesn't turn down the rhetoric, it's going to cause more people to get killed.”

Appreciate that major media outlets are finally, albeit reluctantly, starting to affix nouns verbs when describing violence that involves government representatives.

How does everything keep getting dumber?
Rep. Randy Fine on his bill to make Greenland the 51st state: "We need to make sure we assert our dominance over the Western Hemisphere ... the last thing we need is Greenland to become another Venezuela where we have huge problems we have to deal with in the future."

I wrote book reviews for a while for the WSJ well over a decade ago, and Bari Weis was my editor. One of her special tricks was to try to insert a sharp rightward slant into my essays *after* it had been copy edited, as a way of slipping her viewpoint in at the last minute.

All because of policy choices that serve no purpose and are incoherent, stemming from a lack of understanding of how the global economy works. Not to mention policies that, by the letter of the law, are illegal without Congressional approval.
"One year into his second term, how has Trump performed on the economy? The answer is: not good. Not good at all. Other than the depths of the Great Recession and the covid pandemic, job growth in the first year of Trump’s second term was the worst in *over two decades*" — @paulwaldman.bsky.social
One year in, Trump's economy is a mess
He may have won on a promise to fix everything, but he's only made it worse.

Plugging again for @minnesotareformer.com, which is free to read with no paywalls or ads. You don't even have to "make an account."

It's still a small team, but worth adding to your list of media.

I particularly love how these 50 little republics are determined by arbitrary lines on a map and some rivers with zero semblance of equal distribution of population. Also super cool that SCOTUS has said elected reps can effectively pick their voters and disenfranchise people on a whim.
the state is founded on massacring people to get what you want, and the Supreme Court awarded itself the right to do piss baby concern trolling in 1803. it's 50 stupid republics with 50 stupid systems of government, all of which want to kill you. It's not an excuse but it's also not an exaggeration

Gavin Newsom has terrible political instincts. Cozying up to racists like Charlie Kirk. Attacking trans kids. Defending billionaires. When left to his own devices he always picks the wrong path.
Newsom is useful in the same way MTG is. Great that he’s there to make fun of Trump, but that doesn’t mean he’s actually got good ideas. Being pro-tax-the-billionaires is the lowest hanging fruit for 2028 aspirants and he can’t even clear that bar.

There’s no reforming this.

There’s no getting local cops to “enforce the law” (whatever that means) against this

the most important thing in 2028 is electing someone who is a true believer in the project of dismantling right-wing power. if you don't get that, then nothing else will matter very much.

Big clash this afternoon between DHS agents and protesters in a residential street in Minneapolis, following a DHS agent hitting another vehicle. Tear gas was deployed in people’s yards and agents pepper prayed people.

We are far past the stage of permissiveness with white-supremacist violence inside DHS. We are witnessing ICE transition into a death squad.

This cannot be reformed. The only question is who will fight to abolish it, and who will accommodate it instead.
Either ICE Is Abolished or It Will Kill Many More Renee Goods
Minnesota is just the beginning of ICE's transformation into a right-wing death squad. But it can be the end

the thing about “ICE needs training” is that Jonathan Ross was a ten year DHS vet and a firearms instructor

he’s the kind of guy they get training from

the whole institution is rotten, throw it out
Democrats officially going all in on the mealy mouthed “ICE needs training” narrative.

No. ABOLISH ICE.
WARNER: It used to take 5 to 6 months to get trained. They've now lowered the training period to 47 days. Why 47 days? Because Donald Trump's the 47th president. Tell me that's a rational approach

KERNEN: I'm not taking that bait

WARNER: Joe! You can't pick your facts

First of all, good for her for calmly standing her ground and ignoring all the empty threats -- "we're gonna put you in the car and ID you!" -- until these goons give up and slink away.

Second, the irony of masked agents of the state with no name plates demanding *other* people identify themselves?

one of the most effective weapons we have against fascism is mockery, especially when its really funny
It occurs to me all the yelling at ICE in MPLS isn't merely funny. Getting made fun of like this is awful for morale. ICE is losing field officers faster than it can wave them through training, and a big part of it is how little of this these little weasels can take.

You notice how thousands and thousands of cops aren't coming out to condemn Jonathan Ross for senselessly killing Renee Good?

This is what people mean by "all cops are bastards". If this were any other profession, the entire group would condemn it. With cops it's the reverse, they all justify it.
