My complex social media policy

Follow: you post stuff I want to see

Block: you post stuff I actively dislike and do not want to see

Mute: I'm not interested but lots of people quote you (and that's fine)

None of the above: you're mostly harmless or I don't know you.

I feel this way about pretty much all vaccine-preventable infectious diseases. You shouldn't be allowed to dump cyanide into municipal drinking water and you shouldn't be allowed to recreationally spread viruses around shared public spaces.
My most authoritarian opinion is that the MMR vaccine should be mandatory, with only medical (not religious or floofy) exemptions allowed. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Our symphony has an incredible principle flautist. She pulled off a truly incredible feat of professionalism & breath control tonight:

In the 4th movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 Op. 55 Eroica, she got a terrible sneezing fit, but managed to play perfectly through it & sneeze between phrases.

Right now, very, very wealthy and powerful people are exerting all the pressure they can muster on governments, politicians, banks and anyone else they can pressure to prevent the release of their names.

Burn the whole thing to the ground.

FWIW - @teamlabouruk.bsky.social is not an official Labour Party account. They have no presence on BlueSky.
It sounds like @teamlabouruk.bsky.social is panicking.

We're sick and tired of our "leaders" sucking up to the oligarchs.

@zackpolanski.bsky.social has been saying this for quite some time.

U.K. might lose a prime minister because a guy who worked for him knew another guy who hung out with Epstein. Meanwhile the U.S. opposition party is telling our President, who was Epstein's best friend, that his secret police should get better training so their public street murders look less messy.

People hitting their thirties and complaining on socials how this & that hurt now need to get a fucking grip. Your thirties are a wellspring of energy and renewal. They're going to be unbearable hitting their 50s.

Since #bbclaurak is trending, let’s remind ourselves that ONE MONTH ago, the BBC invited Mandelson on for a soft-ball interview on her show. While HIS CLIENT , Palantir’s Louis Moseley appeared as a pundit

Both, as I wrote at time, were ‘abject failures of journalism’

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

My first go at a proper hollow form, turned from spalted beech. Too thick in the base, opening too wide, but I'm really pleased with how the hollowing went and the shape is please, needs finishing up yet, but making good progress.

One of the wickedest things Wes Streeting has ever done is push politically convenient falsehoods about suicide rates amongst young trans people. We have new data from the National Child Mortality Database that exposes the truth he tried to cover up.

“But we lost all those girls.”

I think about this a lot—but unsurprisingly, Seanan puts the perfect words around it.

::cries in comics… and games… and movies… and books… and apparently everywhere else, also::
"We would have lost so much if we'd driven him away" is the justification.

But we lost all those girls. We lost the women they would have become. We lost the work they would have done. Why was his future work so much more valuable than theirs?
