Very queer, unfortunately here, getting used to it. (he/him). Owns Majestic Mess Designs and makes art. Void screaming, media analysis, spoilers, GY!BE, Critical Role, queer media. Loves to draw brains symbolic of my chronic pain.

Here's a little review of since features and cultural norms for newer users:

- There is no algorithm. Liking is nice but does little to boost visibility. If you like it, share it.

- Conversely, the only way for garbage to spread is by sharing it. Don't hate-share to dunk.

One guy tried, unsuccessfully, to blow up a plane with a bomb in his sneakers, and everybody had to take off their shoes at the airport for the next 20 years.

Chatbots have a collective body count equal to Richard "The Night Stalker" Ramirez, and they're trying to put them in schools.
30 years ago they were like we have to ban song lyrics for the children but it’s full steam ahead for the here’s how to do drugs until you die machine
“ChatGPT started coaching Sam on how to take drugs, recover from them and plan further binges. It gave him specific doses of illegal substances, and in one chat, it wrote, ‘Hell yes—let’s go full trippy mode’”

Just watched this fascinating short documentary on Deafula (1975), the first feature-length film entirely in ASL. A shoe-string budget retelling of Dracula made in Portland, Oregon where the local film community volunteered time and resources to Deaf creatives to make it.

Microslop has made some really bad marketing calls in the past, but I cannot think of a single one that's more ill advised than renaming Microsoft Office, synonymous with office productivity software, to the Microsoft 365 Copilot App, a forced fringe "feature" their own data shows everyone hates.

Saw a post theorizing you now encounter more people listening to things on speakers in public spaces because Apple banning the headphone jack did not result in people switching to Bluetooth headphones, it resulted in people abandoning headphones. I'm on an airplane RN and. Thinking about that. Hard.

Ditching a couple mainstream streaming services caving to fascism and giving the money to PBS instead is one of the best medias choices I've made. It's enriched my life so much more.
PBS is still alive.

It may be down, but it’s not out.

To keep it from ever being out, donate to your local station if you can.

You’ll be able to do so here: pbs.org/donate.

3rd drawing in the Critical Role series, once again a tweaked previous drawing. Now it's Keyleth's time: added more lights, cleaned and defined more the linework, change to a little bit more warmer palette, among other small changes.

I feel this so much.
The endless stupidity and flippancy does wear me down the most consistently. The big things are thunderstorms but the stupidity is the water on the limestone.

Something that is very hard to deal with in this era is how absolutely unserious these people are. They are deadly, yes. And also just deeply unserious.
WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

You don’t have to want kids or even enjoy being around them. But it’s also worth unpacking why kids simply existing, learning, or having unmet needs reads as “annoying,” “unlikeable,” or “bad behavior.”

This collective discomfort with noise, need, & vulnerability is why many ADULTS are struggling.

People also forget that we have a rainy season every fucking year. It rains in the winter here, every year! But everybody forgets about that!

Stop saying we don’t have seasons, guys. I’ve BEEN to places without seasons. We are not Medellín.
This is what people don't understand about LA. This place is all about cars, sure, but most people sit in bumper to bumper traffic and don't actually know how to drive. Then you add rain and oil and it's like Spy Hunter out there
Also that first rain after a very long drought when all the oil pools up on the freeway, this is not the day to be on the freeway.

And so egregious, I have yet to see anyone question why indictment justifies the capture of a foreign president while our president is a convicted felon who has never served a day for his crimes. We somehow feel that distasteful or irrelevant and this is the problem right here. Is this objective??

I’ve seen the continued repeating of Trump’s claim that the US is reclaiming its stolen oil and no questions on that framing and no explanation of whether that claim is true or not.

So many in media are ill-equipped to interview officials about what’s happening because they begin with the presumption of legitimacy and don’t know enough about history or U.S. foreign policy to foment intelligent pushback and hold officials accountable.
