So Kilmer Abrego-Garcia will not challenge a deportation to Costa Rica, who has agreed to for him residency, but DHS won’t agree to send him there because it’s not cruel enough.

Yeah, I think there’s essentially no going back from the damage Trump has done. Even if he were removed tomorrow, America has proven it can be duped into electing a dangerously unstable person, and you can’t really make long term plans centered on an “ally” like that.

I don't really care what the "political consequences" are of fighting for the proposition that *everyone* is entitled to due process before they are removed from the United States and sent to a Salvadoran prison.
It's not really a principle if you only adhere to it when it's politically expedient.

NEW: DOJ finally files its response. They continue to refuse to provide any information about any steps they are taking to bring him back, suggesting they are not taking any. They again offer nobody with personal knowledge and simply cite Bukele's (utterly false) claim that he can't do anything.

This is fairly typical of the kind of story that will never make the papers (if it did the headline would be "vicious trans activist breaks elderly man's mobility aid") but it's the result of a constant low-level anti-trans narrative. No one should be randomly attacked in the street for who they are
