The MN Leg could start its own version of these hearings tomorrow. The IL leg too. Months and months and months and months of them. Don't stop.
over the course of 1871, congress held seven months of hearings on ku klux klan and other white vigilante violence in the south, they took detailed testimony from hundreds of black men and women attesting to klan terror. (1/?)

we did warn you
Hoskinson: "You've collapsed crypto from a public perception, to crypto equals Trump equals bad .... Crypto equals corruption. It's a wealth transfer mechanism for Trump and his friends."

11 days into the new year and we've got a new illegal war of plunder with an abducted head of state, full administration backing for executing moms driving near ICE, and the chair of the federal reserve recording proof of life videos to explain the threats he's recieved from the president

Star Trek: The Next Generation or The Good Place are the contenders for best finale.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

So fmr Honduran President Hernandez voluntarily surrendered, and was duly extradited, tried and convicted for drug trafficking, and Trump pardoned him 6w ago.

And this morning, Trump illegally attacks Venezuela and abducts its president and his wife purportedly to try them for drug trafficking.

Among the many reasons you don’t kidnap a foreign head of state at gunpoint even if you have the capability, is that it sparks consequences you can neither control nor anticipate.

What’s really wild about Avatar is how a great director decided to invest his career in a franchise with no discernible cultural impact whatsoever. It’s like if Spielberg had pivoted in the ‘90s & his credits ever since had been direct-to-VHS Land Before Time sequels.

Not for nothing but federal law contains several statutory provisions that restrict, if not outright prohibit, this unilateral action by the senile dementia patient in the Oval.

War Powers Act. War Crimes Act. Anti-Piracy Act. Neutrality Act.

All still on the books.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

I'm a pretty cynical person, and (thought I was) far from innocent about how badly powerful people can act. But each new Epstein email convinces me things are so much worse than I ever thought. Disgusting.
The crisis of elite impunity that is ruining our society cannot be more clearly or convincingly demonstrated than with the fact that all of these people wrote all this stuff into an email and hit Send.

The hooligans currently at the helm of the US are doing as much damage as they can to our clean energy efforts. Why?

To prop up their oil industry donors

Meanwhile in Australia…
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

and because i can imagine the bad faith reading of this, what i am *not* saying is that everything about the extant democratic party is hunky dory other than its total absence of a communications/propaganda infrastructure. what i *am* saying is that this absence puts a hard limit on reaching voters
the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles
