One of the reasons I am *begging* everyone to stop using “Minneapolis” as a synecdoche for the entire Twin Cities metro area is that leads to inaccurate reporting like this. These are Minnesota State Police, who are under the command of Tim Walz, and this is not happening in Minneapolis.

At today’s City Council meeting, we unanimously approved $500,000 in additional funding for immigration legal services.
We also approved $1,000,000 in rental assistance with a 9-4 vote. A spokesperson for Mayor Frey said he would not comment on the proposal until after we take it up. 1/

Council Members Warren, Shaffer, Whiting, Rainville, Vetaw, Palmisano just voted to try and delay the Council from even *considering* approving rental assistance for people until March 19th.
