tbh i think that the majority of americans are consciously neutral and unconcerned, but subconsciously negative and repulsed.
i also think that having trans people in their lives shifts this dramatically toward the positive very quickly, and the biggest problem is that we’re abstract to most.

this is also my read on the electorate
for instance I think it's likely that, as much as it is bullshit transphobia cooked up by bigots, the majority of people in this country don't want trans kids to play sports
but are they going to condition their vote on it? no, they don't care that much

The majority of US voters, so far as I can tell, flatly do not care about trans people one way or another. They aren't necessarily especially friendly to them, but they clearly find the notion that they're supposed to obsess over them distinctly offputting. (Despite major efforts by the right!)

I’m highlighting a few East Portland specific businesses and organizations where SNAP recipients can either get a free meal or groceries.

With torrential Portland rain this weekend, the guys, the service dog, and I were looking for ways to wander indoors.
Fortunately, I am an oddity and Sprocket is a curiosity, so we fit right in at the Expo. 😂
He alerted me for medical stuff and I found a seat when I needed it; he was very good. 💓

I was able to get out safely with my cat Valentino. I’m being supported by my wonderful friends, neighbors, and loved ones as I navigate what comes next.
The incident is under active investigation, including as a possible arson. I’ll share more information as it becomes available.

Took an evening walk through our Portland neighborhood with my son and my dog. We can’t figure out how these festive neighbors made the giant cat on their porch roof move as if it is pouncing.
Obviously we need the national guard to help us with these scary inflatables everywhere. 😅🐈⬛🎃

I suggest the Feds stop making up lies about Portland being on fire and start looking at the truth that Alaska is under water, and use our federal resources to provide meaningful help for citizens coping with a major natural disaster. 👀
NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.
The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.
At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

The administration is vilifying the local cops in Portland who keep trying to work with them but won't make up statistics or arrest people who aren't breaking the law. The reason there are modest numbers of arrests, Noem suggests, is that the cops are in on it!

Nor is it just MAHA. I remind you, for example, that chapter 12 of Timothy Snyder's "On Tyranny" is LITERALLY titled "Make Eye Contact and Small Talk." He says this is "not just polite. It is part of being a citizen and a responsible member of society.”

It's no worse than any other disabilities. But for years, it was billed as one of the most tragic outcomes possible for kids. It was seen as a symptom of schizophrenia or this condition that drove children into a catatonic state. The fact mothers were blamed for it made the stigma worse.
I don’t exactly how to phrase this, but like… is autism that bad???? Like, why is it such a source of fear??? Of course there are challenges but you can be autistic and have a rich, fulfilling life! Many people do! I don’t understand the preoccupation.
