Enabling the destruction of trust at scale and speed seems bad tho.

We’re going to rely on companies to be trustworthy even when lies are cheaper? Where will trustworthy news come from? Freelancers we know? Through what channel? How will they eat and travel? With whose money?

If you have 100 customers, for example, you probably don’t need a database—a flat file with JSON in it will do. You almost certainly don’t need that slick UI (you need a good UX, but you can often get that with a very simple UI).

I mean, if we have cheap solar and storage and no AI, we will be doing ok, whereas on the other hand, having an AI burning oil till we all simultaneously drown and cook on the off-chance that it is benevolent, seems suboptimal.

i feel like if you really wanted to encourage people to use alt text, the smart play would be to let people opt-out of seeing no-alt skeets. Not a labeller, but in the AppView or whatever.

I keep saying this but it’s at least very interesting that many doctors didn’t think ADHD persisted into adulthood until you couldn’t buy Ritalin over the counter anymore and most people stopped smoking.
yeah tbh I’d really rather be on ADHD meds and NOT have to develop a two pack a day cigarette habit as someone who’s never smoked before just to function
I guess I can drink twelve coffees a day while chain smoking if you want me to do this in a socially acceptable manner, I just don't see how that's better for my physical or mental health than Vyvanse, y'know?
