Walking away from Omelas, are you? On our nice walkable infrastructure, mind you. Anywhere else you'd have to drive away from, but not Omelas. There's also an accessible shuttle every 15 minutes, but nooooooo, don't let me slow you down, you've got an Omelas to walk away from, Mr. Ethical.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

That's Chris Quinn, everyone. Editor Chris Quinn of @cleveland.com and the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Although—and Chris is the expert here so I'll defer to him—I think "prompt engineer" is the current term? I don't want to insult him with some archaic term like "editor" if it's not appropriate.

I appreciate the humility here. When you've solved all of physics from first principles, do the classy thing and acknowledge the help you had along the way.

This message from the US State Department about "not wanting allies to be shackled by guilt and shame" is a pretty direct call-out to the German far-right argument that Germany has spent too long feeling guilty about the Holocaust, and needs to move on and stop doing remembrance.

Lutnick, a 1983 Haverford graduate and mega donor whose name is on the library, had contact with Epstein as recently as 2018, long after Epstein pleaded guilty to sex crimes, according to documents.
Howard Lutnick’s name is on the library at Haverford College. Will that change after his appearance in the Epstein files?

It's not an original observation, but this from a South African apartheid dead-ender is especially rich.
1/3 What Musk is really referring to here is, of course “race” - that construct that served to define the hierarchies of wealth & power structured by modern colonialism. Like other far right racists though, he uses the word “culture” as a seemingly less pernicious synonym.

God, this annoys me. If you “don’t know” then the precautionary principle applies. You either accept that it’s possible and behave as if you’ve created a novel consciousness with rights, and your company is now essentially a nature reserve/maternity ward… OR…

By curling dispute standards this is roughly the equivalent of Pedro Martinez throwing Don Zimmer to the ground.

this is comically evil. brazenly anti-social. just absolute black-pilled nihilism. we will not have a republic, we will not be free, until we regulate these companies to the point where — at a bare minimum — they're too afraid to put stuff like this down on paper.

We plan to launch the Torment Nexus feature during a volatile period of exceptionally high social torment [see internal Torment Index prediction market]. During limited testing, we expect to discover whether we will require support from Feeds and Algorithms to increase background torment for launch.

"Jézabel. Jézabel Dabois."
Jézabel Dabois, the judge in question, not only noticeably scored Chock/Bates lower than the rest of the panel, but more critically she vastly overscored F. Beaudry/Cizeron — and has been doing so for over a year.
