This also might be one of the most brilliantly edited movies I saw in 2025. Just some staggeringly good cuts throughout.
Gus Van Sant has a new movie, Dead Man's Wire. You probably haven't heard of it. But you should seek it out. It's a brilliant movie that speaks to where we are right now, but is also a worthy successor to the 70s classics it emulates. Funny, surprising, compassionate. Big screen if possible.

Just to get this information out there, in case it helps anyone: I have it on good authority that DHS/ICE has set up an office at St. Paul and Wilshire. It's just beyond the 110 past downtown LA, on the edge of Westlake.

I hit play on VOLCANO for the mindless distraction of it all and I had forgotten that it opens with fucking AIDEN from fucking SATC campaigning against public transit. Aiden WOULD do that.

I literally went through Carly's most recent newsletter and put down library holds for over a dozen books (and I'm in the middle of reading one of her recommendations and it is in fact great). Highly recommend subscribing!
